North Carolina Senate OK's road change to honor Earnhardt: The North Carolina state Senate gave its final approval Wednesday to legislation renumbering a state road in Iredell and Cabarrus counties as N.C. 3 in honor of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. The road now is N.C. 136, but that number would be swapped with the N.C. 3 now in Currituck County. Earnhardt, who died in a wreck at Daytona International Speedway in 2001, drove the No. 3 Chevrolet. He lived in Cabarrus County and ran his business enterprises in Iredell County. The bill now returns to the House, which approved an earlier version without the Earnhardt road and must decide whether to accept the changes.(ThatsRacin.com/AP)(10-3-2002)

i like the idea.......my dad doesnt....he's not an earnhardt fan...so he's pretending the road is in honor of Dale Murphy LOL

The road will always be 136 in my mind. Heck, DEI doesn't even have a sign out in front of their shop and now they want to name the road after #3. Whats up with that???????????? Why don't they just name it Concord/Mooresville Road (thats what the road really is) !!!!!!!

And what about Dale Earnhardt BLVD ????????

Stop with the thousands of exclamation points and question marks all the time.

actually TS, DEI had nothing to do with this....a state senator suggested it.

Dale Earnhardt Blvd. is in Kannapolis where Dale grew up.

he however spent the last 20-25 years of his life in Mooresville....this is a way for Mooresville to pay tribute to him and all that he did for the city of Mooresville.

Hwy 136 is also the road that his home sits on....i actually think its approiate.

a lot of race teams dont have signs in front of their building...if i remember correctly Joe Gibbs doesnt have their sign in front of their building either.........not completely positive about that but i believe they dont.

Well, you can't necessarily say that about AJ Foyt. His race shop outside of Houston, TX has virtually nothing around it. And his name is in very big letters on the outside of the building. It probably sits 1500-2000 feet from the highway and you can see it plain as day.

136 is a nice road. I ride my motorcycle on it all the time! I just like the 136 nomenclature (Rt 3 doesn't sound right) LOL

These Race shops like to go stealth (no doubt about it)

so your from Concord TS?

believe it or not....your the only one that ive seen on this board that is remotely close to me haha

Sounds great to me ............My late Mom lived off 136.

What the hey is wrong with honoring a hometown hero??

After all, there are Pulaski parks, MLK everything, Regan this and that, and on and on.

There are only two things guaranteed in this life, death and taxes.
The rest is just icing on the cake.

PEACE and PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I live In Concord right on the Kannapolis border. Basically right next to I-85.

Big E already has Earnhardt BLVD and They are unveiling the statue of him in Kannopolis next week!

I don't mind. I'm just messing with you Big E fans :satisfied

Sorry :D

im in Mooresville....im about 2 miles from DEI

Paul, my 13 year old daughter is a vibrant conversationalist. Her body language and enthusiasm fill the air. You can almost see the exclamation points around her head.

Maybe ts1 is really a young teen. :)

mooresville has a population of probably about 20 or 30,000....its right near lake norman so there's a lot of people there.

its still a small town where you can know a lot of people.

the work is good...what type of work would you be looking for....you can drive an hour (thats including rush hour) down to charlotte where tons of jobs are.

all and all its a great town

but then again....im biased i was born and raised there haha

if you need anymore info about Mtown let me know....u can PM me if you want.......i'll be glad to find some stuff out for ya if you need me to

I have been to Concord Mills to the Silicon Speedway. The most fun I have had is the Go cart track at the intersection of I 77 and I 85 (southeast corner). That place is awesome! They have an oval track and a road track. Fun as can be. Kinda hard to find. Looks like a wherehouse from the road. You have to go around to the back side to see the go cart track. ;

Have you ever been there???

As for work in the area: There are definately jobs all over this whole area! Come down and check it out. A place called Davidson is a very nice area just to the south of Mooresville. I believe thats where Tony Stewart lives!

ok great thanks.............I'll do that.........maybe i will write to the chamber of commerce or something and see if they can send out a packet of info for me..........
thanks so much
Rayna:)

Hey TS ive been there but couldnt afford it LOL

oh i read on charlotte.com the other day that they are going to built a Nascar speedpark (tons of gocarts) over there at the Mall..........dont know when it'll be open or anytyhing.......i CANT wait though

I heard about that. I can't wait! I only live about 5 miles from there. That other go cart track is expensive. You gotta try it at least once. I can normally get the fastest time of the day on the oval but I'm still working on the road track.

yea im gonna try it sometime...im a poor college student right now so it'll be awhile

have you tried Ken Schraders place down from the race track?

its ok not great.....a little run down now though....but its cheap fun

LOL ok ive started a thread for the NC chamber of commerce LOL

Sorry about that, DEIfan.

I guess I should have started a separate thread.

DEI Fan: I havent checked out Kenny's go cart track yet. I need to do that this weekend!

Abooja: You can move in with me if you want :D

Thats the kind of town I live in. It is really cool knowing just about everybody. Mesa Marin Raceway is only about 45 minutes away too. Good old short track racing. (Harvick's home track)

I lived back east for a few years and never liked it for some reason. I guess I like the dryer weather. I like to drink my water not breath it.

great thank you...........gonna check them out tomorow.......
:D

Housing market is good here for Buying!

Not so good for selling !

I advise staying out of Mecklenberg county (Charlotte). Try Iredell or Cabarrus or try west of Lake Normal. Lincolnton is a nice place. A little closer to the mountains as well.

 Hubby and I drove to NC to visit RCR's shop and DEI's...we drove right past DEI's.........no sign! So TS1...you are certainly right about that one!
But we asked around and someone finally told us we drove right by it! That place is really something to see!
