The Sad State of F1 Racing !

In Formula one racing we watch the most interesting and fast race cars in the world race at some of the best tracks in the world!!!

Too bad that F1 only has two competitive cars (the ferrari's)!! Who wants to watch the same guy win all the races and who wants to watch races with no passing. I must admit that these cars are very awesome to watch but F1 must do something to get more competitive. They cant even sell out Indianapolis Motor Speedway !!!!!!!! in the greatest country on earth with the most racing fans on earth.

When is the leadership of F1 going to wake up and smell the coffee????????? Get some Damn Competition????????

No one is going to change anything in F1 untill people quit watching it. That probably won't happen anytime soon. From most of the European races I've seen on TV (not very many) they don't see a lot of passing; maybe they accept it as perfectly normal. Other countries seem to focus on the technology used in the race more than the race itself. Most American race fans care more about the racing than the technology. Which is why I think Nascar and the irl are the more popular racing series in the US. And there are no Americans in F1

The fans of F1 and other types of racing (CART or IRL or whatever) are totally different, I think. Sure there is little passing and the Ferraris are dominating, but we don't enjoy F1 just for the racing. It is, like thechase77 said, some people enjoy the technical side of F1, others enjoy the glamourous side of F1 (look at Monaco) and others the politics of F1. F1 is a cyclical sport, give time, Ferrari will lose out to Mclaren or Williams again.

:) Well from the top is only one way DOWN!! Ferrari are best now
but that is not theirs fault team like McLaren ,Williams are not competitive, next year will be different Kimi Räikkönen will take the crown off Schumachers head and Montoya will be runner-up

Its funny how F1 is more popular in other country's but the largest attendance at any F1 race this year will be at Indy this weekend. They are expected to have about 150,000 fans. I bet Indy could get that many fans out of a Busch race!!!!!!!!!

F1 needs some darn competition.

I'd like to see that. I think Tony would do all right in one

Great thread til the last post TonyStewart1 ;)

Unless you've been to an F1 race...its hard to appreciate it. Just like anything else I suppose. Contrary to what you might actually see on your poor television feed there is quite a lot of passing in F1...not for the lead however. I have a feeling that's viewed as the only thing that matters sometimes... :(

F1 is cyclical...Ferrari is dominant right now...but they were due my friends. They had a 20 year drought! They're just making up for lost time I guess... :p

I agree that its difficult to get excited about the championship as a whole compared to years where there are 2 or 3 evenly matched constructors. I for one love Ferrari's dominance...they are just amazing to watch...and in some corners you can actually see its superiority. While I think it would be cool to have more front running cars, I'm thankful that the FIA doesn't artificially make the cars more evenly matched...as they do in NASCAR for example. Its called "run what you brung" and that's what makes F1 great IMO

Oh...yes, the USGP is the best attended F1 race of the year. It shouldn't come as any surprise though...its huge compared to every other F1 venue. Also F1 tickets in Europe and Asia typically cost 2-4 times as much as USGP tickets...

WCR, tonystewart1 is what's known as a troll.

Pay him no mind and avoid his bait.

In response to the "no competition" complaints: I suppose nobody watched the Chicago Bulls during their championship years - in particular the 70-win season...I bet nobody is even interested in Tiger Woods dominating the PGA...

COME ON! Sure, people like competition. But lambasting F1 because Ferrari is the only team that seems to have gotten it right is ludicrous! As a card-carrying Tifoso, I will enjoy every minute of this while it lasts and I will adapt to a future changing of the guard. Face it, in a constructor's series, there will only be 1 or 2 teams that can afford to produce consistent winners. It's the nature of the sport.

Regarding passing, have you ever watched a Winston Cup race at Watkins Glen or Sears Point? WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROAD COURSE!!

Hi...this is my first post on this forum. I got back from Indy with my father late Sunday evening. He has always hinted to me that he would like to go to Monaco to watch F1. Well, after the race we both agreed that that would not be a good use of our money.

Don't get me wrong...it was a fantastic experience attending a Grand Prix at Indy. But as for the race, it was not good at all. I think Americans want more of a show for their money. I knew it would not be competetive but this was even a little beyond my expectations.

I go to CART at Mid-Ohio, Laguna & IRL at Michigan and all of these races were so much more enjoyable. I think for the casual or first time F1 fan this race was a turn off. I really don't think I would attend another as long as there is no competition. I would think the attendance next year will decline as long as the competition is so unbalanced. Yes...the cars are amazing but after all, it is still an auto race.

All in all....call me a disappointed fan. It is akin to Gordon & Johnson in NASCAR winning 90% of the races. I want to be entertained as a race fan.

Thanks for your honest opinion !

That pretty much wraps up how I feel too !

The individual cars are very impressive but the racing just isn't that great!

Windy City :

I do like the run what you brung concept!

I used to love it at my local dirt track when they had those races!! Late Models would show up with Fiberglass wings and sidepanels that were 20 feet high and they would flatfoot the whole track. It was awesome stuff!

It would be awesome if nascar would try that once in a while! Maybe at Martinsville or Bristol! Wouldn't that be something!

They did...remember the Superbird?

Its amazing they went from that kind of manufacturer innovation...to talking about a common template for all cars.

Ahh yes the plexiglass late models....The good ol' days of the NDRA were awsome. I saw them in Witchita one night, there was about a 35 MPH wind blowing from turn 1&2 down the straight to 3&4. They were topping out at about 60 mph down the frontstrech, and half ended up blowing thier moters or sailing off the end of turn three.

Now that was an interesting race.

Nothing like the plexiglass dirt late models of the 80's. Come to think of it, I like lots of things from the 80's. Music, stock car racing, among others !!!!!!
