Since the almighty DOLLAR has finally taken control of NA$CAR I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the memories of my youth. When I was a kid listening to the Southern 500's(yes, an AM signal that would sometimes fade out was the ONLY way you "saw" the race if you weren't there) and wishing I could be there it was like some magical faroff place populated with larger that life figures.
The radio would echo with, "from the pits to the Pagoda, from the covered grandstands to the Eye in the Sky, welcome to the granddaddy of them all, the SOUTHERN 500!", when R.I.P. meant RACE IN PROGRESS!!!
