The Spurs!

The San Antonio Spurs have won the 2003 NBA championship over the New Jersey Nets.

Although I really wanted the Nets to win the title, I am very happy for the Spurs. David Robinson is a complete class act. His last game in the NBA being an NBA title victory was very fitting. Other guys like Steve Kerr, Danny Ferry and Steve Smith getting rings is another good thing. Kerr already had 4 rings I believe from his years with Chicago. But Ferry and Smith have spent quite a few years training, working hard and developing their games dreaming of one day winning an NBA title. Today, they no longer have to dream. Ferry has never been nearly as good of an NBA player as many thought he would be coming out of Duke. He was a dominating college player, but his game really didn't translate into the NBA game. He was fast enough and big enough to get his shot off in college, but in the NBA everybody is big and fast and he really couldn't adjust. His two years in Italy didn't help him at all either, but would you have wanted to play for the Clippers at the time they drafted him? Me niether! He was what he was, a great shooter if you could find him open. He took that to a team that needed just that, the Spurs who needed outside shooting to take the pressure off of Robinson and Tim Duncan. It was there that his shooting and other limitations finally found a home that led to his title. Good for him! :)

I was rooting for the Nets as well, but I am happy for the Spurs...because of Robinson, and mostly because of Kerr! There is no team in Missouri as you probably know...so we always root for the Bulls...I think they are about the closest. Kerr was with the Bulls for quite a while, and I still like him.

Anyone but the Lakers. I was happy to see Ferry get a ring too.
