Baseball's All-Star MVP award will be named after Hall of Famer Ted Williams, who died last week at age 83.
The first winner of the Ted Williams Award will be picked after Tuesday night's game at Miller Park, major league baseball announced on Monday.

There will also be a tribute to Williams during the game. Williams, the last player to hit better than .400 in a season, played in 18 All-Star games, batting .304 with four homers and 12 RBIs.
 
Insert loud, boisterous applause here. The man was a legend, and wholly deserves an award in his honor. Now if we can just get the strikeout award named after Nolan.
 
I agree. He is well deserving of the MVP honoring him. He was a great baseball player and an even better man. Good job by MLB to recognize him in this way so it will continue on every year.:)
 
I like that they are doing this, honoring a great baseball player in this way.
 
Its a shame that players aren't the way the were when Ted played. Now if they break a fingernail or get a zit on their nose, they go on the 15 day disabled list. Now they are talking about a strike.....
