The top 5

Each of the top 5 finishers did an excelletn job today, (as did others btw, but for now these 5)

Jeff need no further praise from me, he caught Cale for the most SOuthern 500 wins which practically saying enough right there. For the last 100 miles or so the issue was never really in doubt barring some major malfuntion.

Ryan Newman - Did ya see the pass he put on Marlin for second place?? Mentioned his name in the same breath as Cale last week, that is why. Tow starts at Darlington and two top 5 finishes, nobody does that!

Bill Elliott - Strong. lost the handle mid race but stayed in the hunt, Found the handle and finihsed strong . Veteran moves all day long.

Sterling Marlin - Keeps doing waht he has to do, Very good car early but lost a touch by race end. No mIstakes, don't be foolish enough to assume he can't hold the pints lead, another veteran like day.

Dale Jarrett - Gonna call this guy Mr. Adversity this year. Major air wrench malfunction puts him at the rear of the field and he still comes back with a top 5. No easy feat on the ladys turf! Had this team not started the year like dirt DJ would be in the thick of the points battle!

Yes, good race! not as good as last week though!

The race was actually pretty boring. Not much movement at all near the end. The race could have ender with 50 to go and the results would be nearly the same.

So NASCAR needs to come up some rules to make Darlington more exciting? Looked like the cars up front belonged up front and the others were doing what they could to get there with them....looked like races of old to me!!:)

Not exactly 50 laps to go, but pretty darn close.

RESTART Lap #309 (after 4 caution laps) Jeff Gordon leads, Ryan Newman, Bill Elliott, Sterling Marlin, Elliott Sadler, Ward Burton, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett and Jimmy Spencer round out the top 10.

And DEW is right, the best cars that worked right for most of the day were for the most part where they desrved to be.
