Well some good race fans out there might be spotting a couple trends among cars so far this year. You may ask, why the odd engine cowling and wide rear end plates on the rear wing? Well those are technical regulations this year and all teams will abide by them. I have a couple pics somewhere showing exact measurements and what is required. Also notice that many teams went about these changes in their own way. Uniqueness is the key. Will post those tech pics on monday/tuesday. :bounce:

good photos there. I would like to see the new regs.

Renault's car is pretty wild this year,of course they had to change to get their 72 degree horse in there, which will be interesting how it handles this year as it was considered the best handling car. And Sauber has a different colored ferrari to play with, heh, they should improve with that combo this year.

here are the regs, the example is from toyota

Heard some news on speed channel last night, from what they said, Ferrari may well have a different car on the grid at Melbourne, Ferrari at the moment have a revised F2003 (that was pictured at the launch) and could join the radicals in the first couple races (most likely at Imola, the first european round) The "new" car is already two seconds quicker than the old...

Yeah...they're looking good, but they might actually use the F2004 on the grid at Melbourne. :p

Mclaren seems to be struggling in testing, but they could also be sandbagging their performances, but at the moment the Renault could be the dark horse for 2004, and BAR could be joining the party for a first victory somewhere in the season.

Here is the new BAR006,

nice pics of the new regs bebi.

I am not sure the big reason for changing from 3 elements to 2. Its been shown that the number of elements for application where drag matters, two is ideal. But what gets me is why the endplates arn't a few inches higher for the new regs. I would think the air would be spilling over at such a velicity that drag would change a bunch not to mention a slight increase in downforce, but they are the guys with the tunnels.

Well...it's all part of the FIA to decrease/curb the speeds of formula 1 cars, and to some extent safety, but with each season they just get faster anyhow, but all in all F1 cars are very safe even if they are faster.
