The Left Behind series is a series of FICTION books written by some ministers. It is THEIR INTERPRETATION of what the world will be like at the time of Armageddon. It was initially intended to be a catalyst to Christian people to make them more concerned for those "left behind" at that time. This has mutated into a multi-million dollar soap opera, with a motion picture either complete or on the way.
I know several people who have avidly read every book, and I can say that it has not motivated one of them to do anything like the original intent. Instead, it has fostered a sense of smugness that I personally find repulsive and blasphemous. It may have motivated some people, I am not saying that it couldn't or hasn't. But from the ones I have seen, nada. For that reason, I personally made the choice to not support it in any way.
I am not advocating that any one follow my decision on this! Religious beliefs are a very personal and important part of the daily lives of most people, and I am not a preacher. Instead, become informed about them and make your own decisions as to how you feel about them.
