A clerk at a Radcliff check-cashing service got into her car Tuesday morning, heading to the bank to fill a bag she carried with cash so the shop could do business.
But she wasn't alone. In the back seat, a man waited for her.
He grabbed the Check Into Cash clerk around her head and shoulders, police said. He eventually threw her to the ground and fled with the bag in hand.
Little did he know, he was getting away empty-handed.
"He didn't know (the bag) was empty," Radcliff Police Department spokeswoman Elaine Leach said. "He just ran off, and that was it."
The suspect remains on the loose, and police have few details about his identity. Although the man got away with nothing more than an empty bank bag, he still faces first-degree robbery charges, authorities said.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident and was treated at Hardin Memorial Hospital, where she was later released, Leach said.
The only details the victim could give RPD detectives were that he was wearing dark clothing and a dark knit cap.
"We just don't have a lot to go on here," Leach said.
I live in a very small town and this was in our paper this morning. When I first read this it was laughing, then I thought about when I go to work early in the morning. So I'll be on the lookout even more now.
