Goodyear just announced another round of huge budget cuts again yesterday. I have survived all of them so far, although just barely the last time. I have already seen guys with more senority get the axe in favor of keeping me because I make more money for the company than they did. But, I don't know how many more bullets I can dodge. We keep losing market share to the two french-owned competitors Michelin and Bridgestone-Firestone. GY's executives have made some seriously poor business decisions that we (the people farther down the food chain) are now paying the price for. It is getting pretty brutal. I know a few others in here work for them too.

Man that sucks 4X, I hope everything works out O.K. Its a shame the little people always loose in that situation. :bslfag:

The same thing is going on at my place. There is supposed to be 18 layoffs today. I'm not supposed to know about it, but I'm good friends with the union stewart. These cut backs won't effect me because i'm high enough up the food chain. At the very most I'll be moved to a different department.

This would all be unnecessary but an engineer dicided to save the company money by buying a cheaper plastic. Unfortunately, the proper test were not ran on the plastic and the plastic would desolve in water. Not a good thing for hot water tanks. The company lost something like a $100,000,000 lawsuit and now the grunts have to make up for it. The engineer has since became president of the company.

Well, they got me today. They cut me back to 30 hours. But, the good thing is that it is 3 10 hour days so I can get a part time job to work around it if I want to. I need to do something to make up the loss in pay. But, fortunately I have several options available. I have an offer from Auto Zone to go back part-time for around 15 hours a week at a pretty decent wage for a part-time gig. I think I am going to check around about picking-up a few extra guitar students to make it up instead. That would be awesome because I can make more an hour doing that and I don't have to punch a time clock. Plus, it is kind of fun. I get to keep all my benefits at Goodyear so it really isn't so bad. Also, I should have plenty of time to finally finish my remodeling projects ^_^

Sorry to hear that but atleast you can see the bright side. I'm getting bumped off my job next week. I won't loose hours but my wage will go down. Plus i like my job now. i'll find out about my new job next week. Doing some drinking to night.
