Things Are Shaking At DirecTV And Sirius XM

old, old news. DirectTV got us hooked on XM- On our TV package, XM (now the combined XM/siurius) channels are already included.

Verizon FiOS here. I dumped Dish network two years ago (after being a ten year customer) and switched to Direct. I dumped them a year ago after my bill doubled in six months. And now I can still watch TV when it is raining... :)

our rate hasn't changed in years...

Mine either and we've had DirecTV for 10 years. I lived in WA state 5 years and rain or snow never lost my signal unless I lost power. Every spring and every fall I sprayed my dish with silicone spray and nothing sticks to it.

Lucky you. I had Dish for a month, told them to get ripped, didn't have signal 7 days that month.

I'll be pist if my Sirius-XM goes away.

I HATE commercials when I'm listening to the radio.

What great deals?

Basic cable (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, the 3 spanish channels, CNN, ESPN1, FOX Noise and The Weather Channel) is $75/month here. Cable internet is $50 -- and they're about to do away with unlimited internet to make it $50/month for 1GB + whatever.

Needless to say I have DirecTV and I will never get Comcast cable.

I was paying $110 for satelite and $40 for internet. The phone bill (which is payed by my employer) was $65. Verizon FiOS is $150 a month and I have a TON of channels in four rooms. And my employer now pays $45 a month towards my phone bill. It was a no brainer here...

Basic DirecTV which comes with a few hundred channels is $30. Basic Cable (25 channels, half in spanish) is $75.

No brainer.

Yeh Comcast sucks your wallet dry, but I have no choice here where I live if I want Highspeed interenet, Comcast is the best for that. No Fios yet, not available, and I don't want DSL for my internet, so for now I am sticking with Comcast....don't know for how much longer though.

Fios is $150!!!!? That is more than Comcast...WTH???

That is for everything. Phone includes unlimited long distance. Internet has 20 meg of band width. And my TV package has a lot of digital channels.

we're keeping the directTV at the new house, but getting 6 MBPS rated AT&T DSL and a fax line. DSL is $30 a month cheaper than hughesnet for 1000,0000 times the speed.

if you want to complain about overpriced internet, you're welcome to try hughesnet/Wildblue.

I have Dish and I hate it, my major complaint is being in the Southeast and not getting the Atlanta Braves games on Peach Tree TV. Here in Charlotte you can apparently get the games on Time Warner and Direct. Not to mention i dont get the MLB channel either.

Dish claims to have the best technology in the industry, yet you can not set shows up to record remotely like you can with Direct.

I work for a network management company, we sell both cable and dsl services and manage the connection for retailers. (Make sure the circuit is up and rectify the problem if the circuit goes down.)

95% of the circuits we manage are DSL instead of Cable, Cable connection and performance is spotty. DSL is more reliable IMO.

So i have Dish Network and Windstream DSL.

I can't get satellite due to the trees. I have a choice between TWC or AT&T UVerse. I may eventually switch to UVerse but I hate AT&T worse than TWC so who knows. Oh, and my monthly bill rivals that of the GDP of some small countries...

I don't like CSN's hockey coverage but DirecTV makes you watch local coverage (CSN) of the games, even though the Caps-Pens games are on Versus and NBC.

DirecTV/Versus subscriber here, north of Pittsburgh PA. Go Pens! :beerbang:

Puck the Fenguins! GO CAPS!
