The folks at Jack Daniels have to be really happy now. Since putting Casey Mears in the car, they get very little TV time. They took that crew, which performed well with Bowyer, and moved them to Harvick's side and neither one is worth a flip. Childress usually makes some good decisions, but he's really messed this whole deal up.

That's what WNY24Fan and I tried to tell Childress. :D

I knew Harvick wasn't going to perform well when they put Gil Martin on the box. They need to move Shane Wilson over to Harvick's team.

Mears isn't worth a damn anyways, he's just keeping the seat warm for Austin Dillon or Sean Caisse.

For once I agree with Andy. I see a black #3 Jack Daniels car with Austin in the future. Casey needs to go to trucks or Nationwide. Anybody good with photoshop to see what this might look like??

Maybe not Jack Daniels -- but I found this on ARCA SimRacing boards. :growl:

I'm gonna reserve judgement on Austin Dillon until he's had more seat time in ARCA and Nationwide.

So far, with the quality of equipment he's in, he hasn't done anything to show he's anywhere near ready for Cup. Honestly, he's not ready for Nationwide, and RC's moving him up there way too quick. With the type of equipment he has, he should be able to lap the field in the ARCA races he's run. Instead, he's done absolutely nothing.

Time will tell... I've lost a lot of respect for RC over the fact that he's running Austin in the #3 car. He's held back some good drivers so Austin can get the chance to run ARCA and Nationwide. Caisse and Leicht are very talented drivers, and Leicht should be getting a lot more seat time since he's shown he can win in Nationwide. Austin Dillon doesn't have enough experience -- and has proven (with his performance at Kentucky) that he needs a lot more seat time in ARCA before he should be considered for big league stock car racing. Leicht's ultimately gonna get the screw job in favor of Austin Dillon. I'd be real mad if Sean Caisse also ended up getting the screw job, again, because of family overriding talent.

As a lifelong Dale Earnhardt fan, I really don't have a problem with Richard running the 3 car for his grandson, I think that's kinda neat really. I hope Austin gets the seat time needed, and progresses up through the ranks. I agree about Leight though, he should be in Nationwide full time.

You have to wonder about that Leight kid. He ran good for Yates and won, but then he ends up in a smaller roll at RCR. Maybe he is like the Wallaces, good race car drivers, bad personalities. Both Kenny and Mike have a lot of talent, and have had good chances in great cars( Kenny in the DEI Penzoil car and Mike in the Mobil #12), but nothing ever came out of those interim roles. Todd Bodine is another who seems to never have landed a big ride. Just wonder what kind of people they really are. Maybe Steven is in that boat.

Sponsors like talking billboards, not race car drivers. Michael Waltrip is evidence of this.

doesn't make me wonder. they don't have the talent to be top cup drivers. capable fill-ins yes, but not consistent enough to project into even the top 20 drivers. they got their chances and didn't deliver. i'd say their personalities are just fine, kenny's in particular.

Don't forget Kenny has had two good chances, remember when he filled in the #28 Yates Texaco car when Ernie Irvan was smashed up. They only had one top ten during that run when the car before the Michigan incident was the points leader.

As far as the Jack Daniels issue, I'm sure that they are kindly letting RCR know that they are not happy. Maybe they need to give some to Casey to fail a drug test to get him out of the car ;)

FedEx had a lot to do with Leffler getting the boot before the season was over, a couple of years ago. Depends on the sponsor, I guess. FedEx wanted to see results and NAPA is happy with just seeing their car on TV due to a wreck or a good finish.

Yeah, more wreck means more NAPA parts:D

Wasn't that lefflers second big shot at cup racing as well? I just remember hamlin jumping in the car at martinsville and putting it up front for qualifying.

Yeppers!! Funny thing is, I started out sending them a complaint email about taking Clint out of that car and now I'm good "buds" with John, the JDR email guy. They're doing their best to promote Casey in a good light - yes I'm on their mailing list, esp. when he got a couple of top 10s. I'm sure they're not thrilled with how he's doing, but Clint has been having a less than stellar year himself. RCR is having a bad year overall.

It does one good to make nice with the sponsors though, esp. one Jack Daniel's Racing. LOL :D

Yeah I am still wondering how Jeff Burton is 10th in points, you never hear about him ever and hes 10th.

Clint's not having a good year because he's working with a new team. I'm a firm believer of don't mess with something that works. That team worked, then they broke it up. Bad move IMO.

Not a great year for all of the RCR rides. Boyer has had a weird year. First stating off on a new team within the same team he drives for. That never made sense. Not a lot of great finishes, but he has been stronger toward the end of the race. Burton has been around the top ten all year, but not up in the top five where we all would notice him. Last year he and Boyer were top 5'ers all year.
