Live coverage on SPEED now. Jaws is not part of the broadcast.

I guess SPEED's afraid he'll have a meltdown if he doesn't get in. :XXROFL:

3rd Hall of Fame class announced:
NASCAR announced today the 2012 class of inductees into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The five-person class, which will be officially inducted in a ceremony during the weekend of Jan. 20, 2012 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., consists of: Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Inman, Richie Evans and Glen Wood.
Members of the 55-member NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel met today in a closed session in Charlotte, N.C., to vote on the induction class of 2012. The announcement was made by NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France in the NASCAR Hall of Fame's "Great Hall."
The class was determined by votes cast by the Voting Panel, which included a nationwide fan vote conducted through NASCAR.COM. The accounting firm of Ernst & Young presided over the tabulation of the votes.
As was the case for the first two classes of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the results of this year's voting were competitive. Yarborough led with 85 percent of the vote, followed by Waltrip (82%), Inman (78%), Evans (50%) and Wood (44%).
Also receiving votes were Jerry Cook, Cotton Owens, Raymond Parks and Herb Thomas.
The fans' five picks, in alphabetical order, were Richard Childress, Benny Parsons, Fireball Roberts, Waltrip and Yarborough.
The five inductees came from a group of 25 nominees for induction into the 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame class that included:
Buck Baker, Red Byron, Richard Childress, Jerry Cook, H. Clay Earles, Richie Evans, Tim Flock, Rick Hendrick, Jack Ingram, Bobby Isaac, Dale Inman, Fred Lorenzen, Cotton Owens, Raymond Parks, Benny Parsons, Les Richter, Fireball Roberts, T. Wayne Robertson, Herb Thomas, Curtis Turner, Darrell Waltrip, Joe Weatherly, Glen Wood, Leonard Wood and Cale Yarborough.

All deserving. I'm glad but surprised that Richie Evans got in this soon. One Wood brother without the other also surprises me? Yarborough, Waltrip, & Inman..... :beerbang: I bet you can't knock the smile off of Waltrip's face today. Congrats to all.

David Poole was on this board and I am sure he made a difference. Glen Wood should have come in with the last induction IMO. All are deserving though.

Dang, as I was typing that I had a brain fart. I sorely miss David Poole but I meant Dave Moody.

wonder if there's any chance he will now be addressed as hof'er darrell waltrip every time his name is mentioned....

I hope not. Soon Boogity boogity boogity will be on every shirt, hat and even the main Nascar Spring Cup series logo.

I don't have a beef with any of them getting in this time around. I probably would have put both Wood brothers in at the same time. But that's the only think I'd change.

I had to chuckle at some comments I read on some other message boards and blogs that said DW didn't deserve to go in. Either these people never bothered to look at his stats or their dislike for him clouded their judgement. I was no fan of his when he raced, but he certainly was deserving to go in now. I actually felt he should have gone in last year. He sure was tickled to finally go in. I was happy for him.

Agreed. On everything. :beerbang:

After he is in there, he should be called Hall of Famer DW. You might not have liked him but that doesn't matter.

i was a big fan of dw's until the last few years where he just cruised around. no real problem with that, richard did it too, but i no longer considered him a contender to win a race. he didn't do bad running for earnhardt. it's his never ceasing (and annoying) commentary that drives me up a wall. i agree he belongs in the hof.

I enjoyed listening to Dale Inman speak in one of his interviews last night.
That guy has been around forever. I bet he could keep us all entertained for a few days with his stories...

I wonder if he would ever admit to how many races they won where cheating was involved.........:sarcasm:....:D

Great to see Richie Evans get in,,finally. 9 modified championships including 8 in a row.
AFAIK The only number in any nascar divsion to be retired is his #61.
Pull in and see his orange hauler and you wanted to turn around and go home.

Well, that "might" tarnish the kings image.......I guess if Dale chiefed" for people that weren't near as prominant as Petty, we might get some stories.

I read in snail mail that Brian France called these inductees the best class of the three.

Take that Richard and Dale!

Why are they changing the induction ceremonies to January, I like the fact that it was part of the Charlotte festivities in May. All Star race to Coke 600, is a cool week in Charlotte, with the HOF.
