This guy knows what he's talking about...

I wonder if Nascar tried a bigger rear spoiler with everything else being the same and didn't like the results or didn't give it enough of a chance? Either on the track or in the R&D center?

Why would they do that? They went smaller because they wanted to make tandem racing as hard as possible. I think they didn't really game out how it would affect pack racing. Maybe they did. I find it hard to believe that they didn't expect more wrecks this year, because they went to a bigger plate. They use a larger spoiler in NW, so they had all the info they needed.

Well there are a lot of differences between the Cup and NW cars. Like you said though, Nascar didn't think this out all the way, either that or they wanted the WOW factor with more wrecks. I guess this was their way of generating better ratings in the short term. I will admit it is exciting to a point.....then it becomes almost ridiculous.

Just watch the NASCAR advertising for the next week or two, and it will be easy to see what they are promoting.
