I copied this from 4m, I think the following is more than worthy of posting. I will be putting some pics, keychains, and trading cards in the mail tomorrow.
This is a heartfelt request on behalf of Randy Redman.
Most race fans, drivers and crews at Shawano Speedway know Randy, you may not recognize his name but “Big Randy” is a gentle giant and super race fan. Because Randy lives in Shawano that is where he attends most of his races but he follows racing all over the country. While talking with Randy at a Challenge Series race years ago, he was naming the driver and car number as the trailers rolled through the parking lot!
Randy has lived with physical and mental challenges all his life but last July Randy was knocked down by Blastomycosis. After months of treatment in the hospital and nursing home it looked like Randy would be headed home and back at the racetrack this season. Then there was another complication that resulted in further hospitalization. Randy is now back at a rehabilitation nursing home and is doing much better physically but seems to be losing the will to recover.
How can you help? Randy loves to receive mail, it is one of the only things that help to motivate him to eat and do the exercises necessary to regain his strength. He also loves anything connected to dirt racing.
It does not matter if you know Randy or not, if you could just take the time to send a card or note and even better include hot shots or any racing related materials, magazines, photos, videos, newspapers. We are hoping that this will help him get back the will to get well and back to the race track.
Thoughts and prayers are always good too!! We are hoping that you will reach out a helping hand to a fellow race fan.
