This is just toooo funny

The best are #16 and #34. A Congressman and a news anchor getting trolled by The Onion. LOL.

I choose to believe that most of those are people just playing along. Otherwise I weep for humanity.

Love The Onion. Please tell me people don't really believe this stuff is real.:dunce:

Some people will believe this stuff because they want. Without going in to Podium material, you could create a blog called americanpatriotnews.com and say Barack Obama was responsible for 9/11 and people would believe it.

I find that if it's anything negative, people will tend to believe it no matter how outrageous and even in the face of Emperical evidence to the contrary, continue to do so.

People also tend to be very skeptical of anything positive.

Is there an opposite of "if it's too good to be true?"

People choose the facts they want. They no longer think someone they disagree with is just someone they disagree with - now, the world is black and white. You're either on my side or you're evil. It's infuriating.

And we have cable "news" to thank for that.

I think those Onion articles show that many people either don't have the time or don't care to take the time to actually think about what they've just read. They simply react.

Listening to what is being said is an acquired skill and takes practice. We're often to preoccupied with the speaker to hear the words.

It hurts me that there are people who are stupid enough to believe that some of what the Onion says is true. There are many who believe just about anything that feeds into their preconceived ideas and opinions.
