driver is sore but OK. Car needs front halving, bent the frame rails (stock frame rail car). The kid and his dad had been driving the car for well over 15 years. As dad put it, "This is why we spend the extra money for good engine parts....notice the cast iron crankshaft and what appear to be stock connecting rods."

Over the years at the drags I saw engines come apart but nothing like that, damn.

Notice where the main caps belong- it ripped the mains right out of the block.

The sad thing is that he posted on the swap meet last night, looking for another stock 454 block/rotating assembly that will hold 100 over...hard heads don't learn well, do they?

I'm not a major gearhead like you guys Mag. All I can tell is it's by far the worst one I've ever seen.

that's a true "she done blowed up " !

mag--if they've been buildin 'em that way for 15 yrs......not likely ta change now.

Looks like the main caps were the beginning of the problem

Not sure what kind of RPMs or horsepower they're running. Coulda just been a lower end with too many passes on it.
A stock BBF crank is good for about 7,000 RPMs and about 700HP. You're going to want H-beam rods, though. Stock BBF crank will handle 800HP with mods and a 4-bolt block.

What kind of RPM's was he spinning? Any idea?

The engine in the boat is a BBC with a "stock" bottom end(two bolt) spinning 6k give or take. Worries me but my Dad(owner) doesn't seem too concerned.

not sure what RPM they turn, it's a mild setup so maybe 6K or so...alot of people have stock bottom ends, but run a tall gear to keep RPM down in the 5's. It's an iron head engine, pretty much stock top to bottom other than 100 over.
