NASCAR, ESPN and SPEED have announced broadcast plans for the Oct. 25 Nationwide Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park.

The Kroger on Track for the Cure 250 will be simulcast live on ESPN Classic and SPEED. Online broadcasts of the race will also be streamed live on ESPN360.com and NASCAR.COM.

"The simultaneous broadcasts on SPEED and ESPN Classic, along with live streaming on NASCAR.COM and ESPN360.com, will provide our fans with a wide range of opportunities to watch the race on various platforms," Robbie Weiss, NASCAR's vice president of broadcasting said. "This is a busy time of year for live sports and we really appreciate ESPN and SPEED working together to come up with a plan that takes care of our fans. ESPN and SPEED will work aggressively to promote this simulcast."

The NASCAR Countdown prerace show will air Oct. 25 on ESPN Classic from 3-3:30 p.m. ET followed by the race simulcast at 3:30 p.m. ET. Immediately upon completion of the Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, SPEED will move directly into coverage of the Nationwide race at Memphis. SPEED will not carry NASCAR Countdown.

"ESPN is here to serve sports fans, and we appreciate the cooperation from NASCAR and SPEED to make this simulcast possible," Julie Sobieski, ESPN vice president of programming and acquisitions said. "This effort ensures an opportunity for the greatest number of fans to be able to watch the Memphis race."

"SPEED is happy to assist again with a simulcast of a Nationwide Series race," SPEED president Hunter Nickell said. "SPEED works well with the NASCAR television partners all season long and believes this kind of network cooperation is in the best interest of NASCAR fans and SPEED viewers."

ESPN Classic also will carry live Nationwide final practice from Memphis from 4:30-6 p.m. ET on Oct. 24 and Nationwide qualifying on Oct. 25 from 10:30 a.m.-noon ET.

ESPN made the IRL race at Twin Ring Motegi on April 19th (20th east coast time by the end of the race) an 'instant Classic.' And a classic it was. The biggest moment in open wheel racing in years (Danica scoring the victory) was relegated to ESPN Classic.

Wasn't Richmond Nationwide Series also on ESPN Classic? That was an amazing race at the end with Wallace and Wildthing going at it. :XXROFL:

Hurray for SPEED. The truck race at Atlanta earlier Saturday looks like a washout.

Once again ESPN biting of more than they can chew. The problem is there so busy trying to sign a deal to have every sporting event on ESPN they dont relize that differant sports go on at the same time. I mean come on they cover Nascar, Indycar, MLB, NBA, NFL, Golf, Hockey, Tennis, College Football, and College baseball, College basketball. I wouldnt be suprised if they made an ESPN 3 so they could get the rights to more sports.

IndyCar Series is on Versus now.

I know most of you have probably never heard of Versus, but they air the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, USAC Triple Crown and Sprint and NASCAR All American Series. You might also be familiar with them, if you are into hockey, for airing the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

IndyCar actually got a suite deal out of this. Versus' NHL coverage is really good actually. I'll watch Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals take down Pittsburgh on Versus over the local channel anytime. :beerbang:

I'd fully expect to see ARCA move to Versus as well.

ESPNU is ESPN7. refer to a previous post by andy for the references of ESPN 5, 6 and 7.

I'm still waiting for "The Ocho" :D
