Since this podcast gets mentioned in a number of threads I thought it may be time for it's own thread.
Three NASCAR spotters talk about the experience at the track, breaking down their drivers day as well as the action on the track (and sometimes in the garage).

This week's show has Denny Hamlin sitting in. Now I haven't been a fan of Denny's, but he was able to turn me around by first teaming up with MJ (I'm from Chicago so...), and then signing Bubba, and then Kurt. He talks a bit of business in this one (I always want to hear/learn more of that), his roots, and shows that maybe he isn't so full of himself by completely skewering himself over his performance on the Indy Road Course. Insightful, at times humble, and probably more open than any owner might be. A good listen if you are a regular of the show, a must listen for Denny fans, and a good introduction to a podcast worth subscribing to.

Thanks for creating the thread..

TBH for awhile I’ve been thinking about creating a thread similar to this but for all the nascar related podcasts. I often hear tidbits that I find interesting but don’t need a thread dedicated to them.

Oh, I'm sure I can access it. I barely have time to listen to the podcasts I'm already subscribed to. I don't need another one at this time.
I'm not a podcast person at all. Just wanted to let you know where it's available if you were interested. But I suppose my daily YouTube use is as bad as any Podcast habit. Spend several hours a day on YT. Nothing else to do though. TV stays on OTA channel 12-16hrs day. Maybe hit MSNBC/CNN couple times a day for less than an hour.

I listen every week and they hate my driver, if that says anything. They offer the most candid and honest analysis of that week's goings on as anyone n the media. Plus they screw up often and say too much...

Everybody hates YOUR driver to hear you tell it.

Dale and Mike have heated argument about Denny Hamlin and RossChastain | The Dale Jr. Download

I found that to be a bit forced, almost like I was watching PTI on ESPN. Mike came off as a huge idiot imo, he changed his position at least once during that exchange. The segment hit me the wrong way I guess but I was over it as soon as he tried to make the point that Denny never rubbed up into Ross.

I don't know. Junior seemed to me like he couldn't believe his ears.

Hate is probably too strong a word, but they never go out of the way to give him credit for anything. Whenever something good happens to him, they usually find a reason for it other than him being a pretty damn good race car driver. After his 2020 Phoenix championship victory, they did just about every single thing possible to NOT give him any of the credit. It was the crew, it was the body, it was the engines, it was the car failing pre-race inspection, it was Brad K's pit crew, it was this, it was that............

EVERY successful driver is going to get dogged by those who are not fans. Elliot is no different. His fans act like he and they are some how over-victimized by media, fans, and bad luck. Of course when he fails, it's the crew or crew chief of cars fault, hardly ever do they recognize his part when it's on him. The whining gets old.....

I'm pretty biased myself. Not only are Elliott's accomplishments being widely ignored, but if they could possibly find out what Ty has for breakfast we would know about it.
On the other hand, I think Elliott has to take some of the credit. He is a tough interview, and not a darling of the press at all.

That's where I don't understand his popularity. So many other drivers do a lot more for fans and the media

Well, I can't speak for the rest of the Elliott fans, I really don't come into contact with many. As for me, I've never thought the media was unfair, but as much as the haters seem to think the media fawns over him, he seems to get ignored sometimes. I've lost count of how many times he has finished in the top five, and his post race interview doesn't even make the race broadcast. I don't expect other fans to LIKE him, although I don't see any real reason not to, just don't dismiss his ability. I can't stand Kyle Busch, but I don't dismiss his extreme talent. I have also never made excuses for Chase's mistakes, I call them straight up as I see them. For example, I was not at all happy with the stunt he pulled when he took out Logano at Bristol, and I thought he did a poor job at Road America this year. As for the bad luck, it's very subjective, but over the course of his young career, I have never felt he has had possession of Jimmie Johnson's horseshoe. I honestly feel that if he could have just neutral luck he would have 10 more wins.

Well, some of us are quite content to pull for a driver that shows up, does his job, keeps his mouth shut, goes home, minds his own business and doesn't actively court attention or adulation. That probably explains why some of my all time favorite drivers were guys like Johnny Rutherford, Rick Mears, Harry Gant and Terry Labonte.

btw, I'm not saying he isnt s great driver but reality is he got his Dads fans just like Jr got his Dads fans and Davey got Bobbys fans etc...
True, if his name was Clyde Smith, he probably wouldn't have half as many fans, but you don't get to choose who your parents are. You can't knock a guy because of the accident of birth. At least he has chosen to try to live up to the example set by his dad in the sport and not act like a spoiled brat all the time. If I had to guess, I'd bet he would be just fine without all of the attention being the MPD gets him. If he was craving constant attention, he wouldn't still be living in Dawsonville.

That's what I can't understand. How does someone find time to listen to these things? If they were 10 minutes I might listen, but many of these are 45 minutes or more.
