I don't think there's any doubt that they work for the open wheel cars. But after Leffler Friday and Hornish, today, do you think that MAYBE the tires are too reflective for the heavy and bulky stock cars, especially that close to the racing surface and at that angle?
Sure, they're great for head-on collisions like Jimmie in 2000 and Junior today, when they're way off the course. But for the boot covers, I'm thinking they need to find somethign that is more Absorbing to such a large and blunt hit and less reflecting. If nothing else, change the angle or use water/sand barrels or foam. But the mix of tires, the angle, and the locale reletive to the track, something needs to change.
