Been wonderin about everyone thoughts on the impact of these three moves on their relative teams this year . 1, Jimmy Fennig to Carl Edwards ..sure could be a game changer ,but then , maybe not. 2. Matt Kenseth to Joe Gibbs . Could impact his two new teammates really positively or maybe could backfire on those egos. 3. Joey Logano to Penske , maybe the biggest of the three , maybe not . Brad has been pretty much a one man show , will he relish a partner or will Joey fail to live up to the challange?

Good questions. If Gibbs mkes the decision early to have their engineering follow Matts lead, he and Denny will benefit while Kyle struggles. It seems Fennig is demanding more of Carl, so that should help his lack of consistancy. Brads work ethic will rub off on Joe, and I think the big story this or next year will be how Gibbs lost Logano.

Brad will benefit from the second car . I don't think that he has had that with Hornish . Joey and Brad are young guns who should make each other better.

I believe Edwards is one of those that can in, had some quick success, and already reached his peak.

Kenseth will make JGR better. He'll tell the other two how to do things.

Logano could start out strong since he's no longer in the middle of Hamlin and Busch. I also think the new car will benefit him greatly.

I think that any driver should/could benefit from a good second team in the same stable but I'm not sure if Logano is the right guy. Don't think for a second that there are no egos at Penske.

I'm very curious to see not only how Edwards responds after a disasterous 2012, but also wondering what the future holds for Gordon.

Kenseth will do fine at JGR but it's not like their equipment is any better than that of RFR and it's highly unlikely that he'll find some great, hidden talent which he didn't know he had. The question there is if Hamlin/Busch will be able to hold it in check if Kenseth becomes top dog.

Some other story lines which have me anticipating the 2013 season are RCR, Stenhouse Jr., Patrick, Bowyer/MWR and finally, has Earnhardt Jr. broke out of the doldrums or will he continue to simply be happy with good runs on a consistent basis?

Wow , that would be a big problem.

Kind of like the one you appear to have had with quoting MRM's post ;) J/K

Seems to me that if a fella knew which of these three was going to have a big impact , he could make a pretty neat BOLD PREDICTION>

I think Matt going to JGR is going to really help Kyle, Denny and JGR in general.
I think Fennig and Edwards will work well together and I think they'll have a successful season.
I think Penske screwed up with Logano. Joey had some of the best equipment at JGR and really only had success in the Nationwide Series, who knows, maybe Joey just hasn't gelled yet. I think Brad will be able to help improve Joey's inconsistency issues.

I think Logano will surprise a lot of people. He was very immature when he joined JGR and acted like he had made it. Losing his ride surely scared him into getting to work to be successful. I think Brad will teach Joey he neds to grow a pair and fight for racing room. If we see Logano getting into it with some of the veterans, we'll know he has changed his approach toward racing.

Stenhouse could provide some real excitement if he's fast. He's a hard nosed racer who isn't afraid to push people around a little to get racing room.

It's too early to tell if Matt's move will turn out to be good one. I hope JGR has fixed those engine problems that cropped up too frequently last year.

Kenseth to JGR is the big one. Kyle and Denny could certainly use someone with his experience AND his composure around. That benefits the whole organization. If Kyle and Denny ever learn to keep their composure in high pressure situations, with their talent, they could win a lot of championships between them.

Good topic, Ted!

My take is that Eddie Haskell will not regain the status he once had. I think he's lost a lot of respect from other drivers due to his two-faced attitudes and we all know that without the respect of the other 42 drivers on the track, things can be really tough. Carl might make the chase but Stenhouse will be the big story for RFR in 2013.

I think that Joey going to Penske was/is a great move. Fender correctly said that Joey was really young when he was elevated to CUP. A year (or two) in the N'wide series would have really helped him grow as a driver and an adult. I disagree that he became conceited, however. I think it was more that he was trying to overcome the sense that he was in over his head. Never let them see you sweat.

Kenseth moving to JGR will be a great thing for the team, I think. Pee Wee and Hambone have had a somewhat caustic relationship and Joey's presence had no way of impacting the JGR team dynamic. Matt coming in with his history and experience should solidify the entire JGR operation - if, as was mentioned earlier, the team can overcome the mechanical gremlins that have plagued the organization over the past couple of seasons.

I wonder if part of JGR's problems is Kyle's attitude. I mean, I've never seen any driver blow more engines than Kyle -- not even his other teammates.

Well, he is the most aggressive driver in cup so that may be the reason or he could have pissed some people off in the engine shop with his comments. Maybe that explosion in the JGR shop last year was an expirement with a new way to detonate KyBu's engines ;)

Carl Lee will win at least two and make the chase. Matt will help JGsR , but I still think Hamlins is the future of the team. Loganos is a crap shoot or 50/50s.

Great topic

Kensith should do fine but I wonder how long it will take for the driver/crew chief connection to work out. Kyle might benefit because he is maturing (team ownership moves that along) but Denny is still a cowboy.

Edwards should be much better than last year, it would be hard to get worse.

Lagano is a question mark, I thought he came to cup a year early when Stewart forced that move. A new environment often helps a driver. Two reletively young guns for a team should provide some excitement.
