Man, those tracks sure look pretty after they get that new blacktop but more often than not single grove racing is then the norm for a long time to come. Let's hope not.
Three tracks that host NASCAR race weekends are on schedule with repaving projects that will all be completed in time to run events on the new surfaces this season, according to Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition and racing development.

"We have three repaves coming up this year," Pemberton said. "Michigan is done. It was completed before the end of the [2011] season. Pocono will be finished in the spring, depending on the weather. And Kansas will be repaved in between the two races. Kansas is the only one that, on paper, will change the bank angle [slightly]."

Complete story here.

I was REALLY Upset when they repaved Darlington a few years ago but Honestly I beleive the racing is better there since the repave!

I don't see Michigans repaving having much of an effect on the racing, if your cars stuck better do you get worse fuel mileage? Pocono and Kansas will have Real effects.

I hated to see Darlington repaved as well. But it was time - and the results since repaving (and switching to night races) have been spectacular!

Michigan won't be effected much, I don't think. But like it's sister thack in Fontucky, the drivers dive into turn one with a straightaway speed over 200 mph. Figuring that there will be more grip in the turns, it could make for some very fast lap times - and a right front tire that's not afraid to scream a little.

Don't know what it will do to Pocono. The drivers all went for the asphalt patches in the turns. This could actually open up the track to more racing.

Kansas? Who really cares. Unless they added progressive banking (like Vegas and Homestead) it's just another track.

Pocono could be worth watching. If Kansas is anything like Vegas 2007, it's not going to be worth watching.

Maybe while they are at it they can cut two corners off of Pocono and cut it down to a half mile. Then ill be excited when i see Pocono on the schedule!

I wish they would "reconfigure" Kansas in to a half mile oval, a half mile dirt track or a 17-turn road course. Same with Michigan.

Love Pocono the way it is . There is no other track like it . It's unique in a time when there are so many tracks the same.Having to adjust your game plan every week is what makes this the big show.

X2, although Pocono is not one of my favorite tracks I beleive having Cup races on tracks with unique challenges adds much more to the racing.
