Thunder Thaw 50 to kick off Tazewell Speedway's '07 racing season, Sunday March 18.
TAZEWELL, Tenn.- After receiving a bit of a face-lift during the winter months, Tazewell Speedway is set to kick off it’s 42nd racing season with the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series sanctioned second annual $3,000-to-win ‘Thunder Thaw 50' on Sunday, March 18.
Thirty-two Super Late Models made up the 2006 ‘Thunder Thaw 50' field as Steve Smith of Powell, TN pocketed the $3,000 winner’s check. Along with Smith, other competitors that are expected to be in action on Sunday include: two-time AAPTS series champion–Anthony White, Jimmy Owens, Billy Ogle, Jr., Vic Hill, Tommy Kerr, Stacy Boles, Ricky Arms, Rick Rogers, Jason Trammell, Troy Eads, Jeff Wolfenbarger, Brian Smith and more.
Tazewell Speedway’s Limited Late Model, Modified Street, Pure Street and Four-Cylinder divisions will also be in action.
The pit gate will open at 11 a.m. with pit-admission set at $30. The grandstand gate will open at noon with general admission costing $15. All children under the age of 12 will be admitted free. Qualifying is set to begin at 2 p.m., with racing action to immediately follow.
