Who had more wins in the 1980's era?

1990's era?

Who holds the most second place finishes in a season and how many?

I'm gonna guess David Pearson with the most second place finishes but I have no idea at how many.

I would bet on that one tp Paul. Petty and Person finished 1-2 many many times in the 70s

Somewhere a while a back the second place finishes records were covered pretty well. I can't put my finger on the numbers right now but I have a post on it somewheres. Pretty sure you'll find that Richard Petty has the most for a single season.

Winningest drivers for the 80's and 90's

Top dog in the 80's won't even be close. Darrell Waltrip will be way out front. Next four would probably be Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Bobby Allison, and Cale Yarborough.

Top dog in the 90's would be Jeff Gordon by a fair amount. Next four are likely Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, and Dale Jarrett.

Found the original post on second place finishes.

Question was asked about second place finishes in the history of NASCAR. Near as I can tell these are the records.

Most 2nd place finishes season - All Time - David Pearson 18 in 1969

Most second place finishes season - Modern Era - Richard Petty 9 in 1972 and again in 1976.

Career second place finishes:
---------Richard Petty 157
---------David Pearson 89

Active Driver Career second place finishes
---------Mark Martin 44

At least two drivers have 7 seconds in a season in the modern era and a whole bunch have 6.
