Depending on the official outcome of the #6 teams spring infraction, the "magic number" for Tony in the next two races is unknown. As it stands at this moment the number is 8. Stay tuned.

Johnny becomes the 165th driver to win a Winston Cup event. A well deserved win and a long time coming.

Benson also becomes the 18th different winner this season. We need one more this season to equal last years mark of 19. I would guess that Rusty is near frantic that he becomes that 19th.

Johnny is the 5th first time winner this year. A veteran joins a sophomore, two rookies, and a pre-rookie in winning the first race of their careers.

Ward Burton's shortened run today, in a car he clearly wa unhappy with, dropped him to 26th in points race. Elliott Sadler slipped back into the top 25. Important spots because the top 25 teams share in the point fund at seasons end.

Speaking of the point fund. There are probably about 22 or 23 of those top 25 teams who will not be hoping for a win by either Mark or Tony next week, nor for a victory by the WC champ the following week.

Why not? The Winston Leader Bonus will be $300,000 at Phoenix and if neither Mark nor Tony claim it, the toal will roll to $310,000 at Homestead. If the WC champ does not win at Homestead the money rolls into the point fund.
