Tim Richmond Memorial

Good to see someone showing respect to Tim. Its a shame he got blacklisted he was one of the hardest racers and when you ask anyone about him now no one knows who he is because Nascar trys to act like he never raced for them.

tim deserves all the belated accolades he gets. individuals in nascar (some) have no problem recognizing tim's greatness wilson89. i forget where but i saw rick hendick talking about tim in a recent interview and he left no doubt he thought tim was a great driver and was proud that he he drove for him. it's the *corporate* nascar that's kept his legacy suppressed.

It was suppressed because NASCAR didn't want the general public to know Richmond had and died from AIDS. Back then, if it was said someone had AIDS, the first thing people thought was that person was gay. If a current driver contracted and died from AIDS, I'm not sure how NASCAR would react today.

Tim Richmond made his first career Winston Cup start at Pocono Raceway. He had be convinced to make the move by speedway owner Joseph Mattioli. The current promoter of Mansfield Motorsports Park is Joe Mattioli III.

"Now you don't have to look it up because I already did."

It would be nice if this race got televised seeing as Mansfield always puts on a good show but I doubt it will be.
