What happened with qualifying? Did the Earnhardt camp step in you know what? All Childress (who Dale Sr. drove for) and the DEI camp car's are all starting in the top five. Did they bribe someone? Did Nascar do some funny math with the stop watch?These questions need answers. :satisfied

It was really no surprise. Michael q'ed 2nd in June. Junior is the track record holder. Both coming before the rules change.

Yeah they qualifyed well, But The other makes will do better in race conditions...or at least that what practice seemed to tell me.

Exactly, Bill. The changes are supposed to help in race conditions, not qualifying. But, as you say, practice had the usual suspects at the top.

Interesting rules change. What make led the most laps up to this point, then 2nd, 3rd, 4th? Anybody know?

I dont know the answer to that but it would most likely be misleading. There are different numbers of drivers for each make, therefore a certain make may have led more laps, but also have more drivers. It would be better to divide the # of laps led by the number of drivers. Here are the man. points.

1. Ford 145 (7)

2. Chevrolet 122 (5)

3. Dodge 116 (6)

4. Pontiac 101 (4)

Waltrip didn't change his car so what does that tell you? He still qualified 3rd.
