Tired of ESPN and Tennis

Just a rant. Seems like every darn week, I try to tune into the nationwide series, and I end up watching the last 35 minutes of a drawn out tennis match. No exception today. Went to watch the nationwide practice and Francois is in the middle of the 3rd set. Will espn ever get it right?

I think this is just one problem why NASCAR's ratings are tabking. If ESPN runs long they should move the races to another one of their channels with a ticker across the bottom to inform race fans to where they can find the races.

It's just practice. Still, I never figured out why the Cup pre-race show last week was on ESPN2 and then the race came on ESPN at 1:00. The purpose of the 2001 TV contract was the prevent fans from having to jump around. Since ESPN came back, the jumping around has started again.

They did it during the nationwide race last week as well. I posted this before...

"I'm going with ESPN for showing awful ****ing tennis which caused me to miss the nationwide countdown show and first 25 laps of the race or so because I was out and dvr'ed the race. **** espn."

Yep. I remember ESPN having the races in the 90s and it was just as bad.

I think NBC did move a race from NBC to TNT before, but that was before the start one time because the War in Afghanistan commenced.

Espn has been like this for years. They buy the rights to every sport telling them it will be better for ratings then they end up overload on sports with only so many channels. And if one thing runs over the scheduled time everythings ruined. This is a major reason why I would get so mad when they cover Indycars and I was happy when VS picked them up. I will never forget the Indyrace a few years ago where Buddy Rice's car flipped over and Espn yanked the race before the ending and before we could see if he even got out of the car safe  . Now Nascar's on that channel and there going to be playing games with there coverage as well.

How many IndyCar races ended up on ESPN Classic? I remember one IRL race a few years ago, pre-race was on ESPN2, the first 20 laps or something was on ESPN and the conclusion of the race was on ABC. Nobody should have to flip across three different networks to watch any sporting event. They did this at a Cup race in Phoenix to (a Chase race for that matter) moving the conclusion of the race from ABC to ESPN2 because America's Funniest Videos (which nobody watches) was on.

Don't even get me started on their NHRA coverage. Those women's collegiate basketball games last forever. I've seen it take them an hour and a half to complete 12 minutes before... how did I see this you might ask? Simple, I turned the television on to watch NHRA Championship Drag Racing!

They should have a extra channel to move the shows that run longer than the scheduled time,so they can keep the regular programing going as scheduled. On my Direct Tv guide they have a ESPN Alt & ESPN2 Alt channels that they never use.

I disagree, I'd hate to be watching any sport and have to flip to another channel to watch the end of the game/race/whatever. The solution is to get NASCAR off of ESPN and back on NBC.

so should espn move a nascar race to another channel (which you may not get) if it runs long due to rain delay(s) or debris caution(s)? what's good for the goose is good for the gander. there are probably some people out there that actually like tennis but can't stand nascar.

Mabey they could split screen it

Alright I don't understand you one bit. One post you praise ESPN, next post you bash ESPN.....Now you say they should go back to NBC which is a network that on several occasions didn't care enough about Nascar to even interview the winner after the race.

Are these the same people that criticize NASCAR racing so much that they complain when they can't see it? ;)

It's easy his opinion for that day depends on what shorts he puts on.

Well, tennis is fun to watch so it doesnt bother me all that much.

Yea about as fun as watching golf or paint drying. It was interesting back when McEnroe and Connors were going at it, but not so much these days.

Gotta disagree with you there. Great matches are still there, and usually involve Nadal and Federer, often against each other to make for some rally exciting matches.

But that really has nothing to do with NASCAR. And to be honest, I don't see what the uproar is all about....it was only a practice. Hell, I honestly don't even see the point of watching practice. Maybe find out what the final speads were, but it often doesn't give you any indication of how the race will turn out.

Sometimes I close my eyes when Maria Sharapova is serving and have naughty thoughts to the sounds of her grunts.
