TNT Coverage

Digger

What did you think?

I liked it, overall. No Digger, no Jaws Waltrip, better production, more racing, spotlight on more than 1 driver, better music, much better graphics.

The cons: Bill Weber and LarryMac. I can't believe they still let Weber anywhere near a mic, nevertheless the play-by-play booth.

Loved NO digger.Overall coverage was great. The post race could use some work.

Overall, I think it was pretty good. Wally and Kyle seem to know what they are talking about in comparison to other color commentators. One thing I didn't like, however, was the hardcore TNT advertising. I mean, when we first got the pleasure of viewing pastel-suited Bill Weber, he and Wally were sitting at a big glass table with a TNT logo in it. That's just kinda.... eh. But I like how they are taking it much more seriously. I just hope "Race Buddy" doesn't get taken too far.

Also, I liked the "Through the Field" stuff they did. I was originally skeptical of this, thinking it's more of a radio thing and that we have a ticker to watch on TV, but the pit reporters gave some pretty good info that really helped me get into the race. And why not do that during the Jimmie Johnson domination downtime?

At least "Race Buddy" provides something of use and isn't just some dumb pointless animation.

WTF was up with Weber's suit -- is this the 1960s?

I don't like the ads for "The Closer" and "Saving Grace" -- I've seen these shows and they are not appropriate for a family audience. Considering NASCAR is a family sport, I think TNT should, AT THE LEAST, make note that these shows they're advertising are targeted for a mature audience (especially Saving Grace -- it's basically a bondage show:rolleyes:). I'd like it even more if they just didn't air those ads and stuck to advertising TBS comedies.

Loved the fact they weren't pimping dolls or t-shirts. Wally and Kyle are the two best tandem announcers in any sport right now. Kyle isn't afraid to say what;s on his mind. DW used to be that way. But now, he doesn't want to make anybody mad.

I thought it was the best TV coverage I have seen in a long time. Kyle Petty and Dale Jarrett are my favorites. I always like Ned too.

I thought the coverage was great and Race Buddy is fantastic and FREE! I watched race buddy all day in the "Grid" mode full screen on my big monitor screen. They don't show commercials on race buddy and when the TV goes to commercial Race Buddy we still get to watch all the cameras with out the chatter, but NO commercials.

As far as the desk with the BIG TNT goes, well isn't it TNT that is broadcasting the races? The Desks that SPEED uses, don't they have a big SPEED on them?

Why does TNT only have 6 races?

I thought they provided quality coverage. Wally and Kyle are much better than Andy Petree or LarryMac & Jaws. I'm not a fan of Bill Weber but I can deal with him. At least he doesn't ask stupid questions all race long like the ESPN booth. TNT and Versus have the best sports coverage these days.

Much better covereage. I really like how they showed battles going on all over the place. At one point they showed some really good racing going on between some guys in the mid 20s. I really like Wally and Kyle Petty and to top it all off there was no damn digger crap. Much better product all around.

I agree with the Jarrets, good announcers, great guys!

Good race coverage I agree, bad announcers. Keep Kyle, get rid of Wally D. and Bill Webermouth, never even liked him when he was in the pits. Bring back Allen Bestwick to the booth, and Tim Brewer...hahaha

I missed Mike Joy, I would love to see what he could do with TNT's agenda (or lack there of), camera angles and throught the fields. Too bad they only have 6 races

I like Wally. Weber can go to the hole with Digger.

We can nitpick TNT's coverage all we want (I can't stand Weber). But it seems the majority of the people think TNT's coverage is better, by leaps and bounds, than the crappy product FOX and ESPN have fed us.

I liked the coverage of cars other than the top three, but thought that the commercials were too frequent and in the wrong places.

It was only thanks to Race Buddy that I learned of a caution on the track during one of the longer commercial breaks. They'd already run another five laps before TV coverage resumed.
I supposed it bored the Hell out of most "modern" fans, but I thought the Dave Marcis segment on the pre-race show was one of the highlights of the day. :beerbang:

I like the coverage by TNT much better. DW needs to retire but Weber to me is more irritating than Digger. Lets get Alan Bestwick to replace for the best coverage. My only gripe about the race is that we never really found out about Dexter Bean. Who is Dexter Bean? All we know is that he got some good air time for the pit road incident. Did ya'll know Sterling Marlin was in the race? No, Me neither. Its a three hour race. They could at least mention the back markers every once in a while.

Double file restarts FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy, not that I'd every doubt you, but can you show me the statistics on this that most people preferred TNT over Fox and ESPN? Or is that one man's opinion and only shown as "most"? I for one don't have a problem with either Fox or ESPN.

I don't have a problem with FOX or DW. I enjoy racing and can't affore to go to as many as I used to. At least we have flag to flag coverage now and if someone don't like it there is always options. Like the POWER BUTTON.:D

Thought is was great coverage,no lap by lap Kyle Busch report, they actually showed what brought out the caution(even though there was 2 of em), they actually showed pit stops,They actually went through the field. one thing they need to work on are more post race interviews but thats about it
