TNT is offering Race Buddy web app that lets you see multiple race views and several other things...

It's free today... (or forever????)

Anyone know if this is going to up against or going to replace Track Pass? I'll certainly give it a go today...

I'd pay for it. It's awesome. :beerbang:

I've been using it free since TNT has taken over the broadcasts. It's nice and you can see different views but I'd not pay for it. I imagine that after TNT is done with their coverage, the service will be discontinued, at least for free.

It's cute but I'm not overly impressed. Sometimes the pit road camera will show something. But the other cameras will never take the place of TV. And, without the TV I don't know that I'd be able to follow the race as the camera work seems more random than not.

I tried it and I thought is sucked. Its just another way to try and get us to watch commercials. If it did not have commercial breaks then it would be cool but then again it would'nt be free. Maybe I did'nt know how to work it but was Stewart the only in car option?

Yes.

So it has commercials, in one corner of the screen, while three cameras still show on track action. Whoopie. Had FAR FEWER commercials than the TNT broadcast.

I like it. I'm sure they'll expire it after Chicago, but ESPN does stream the races online as well.

I didn't think much of it either.. It did show Robby's troubles from the opposite angle from the TV and for much more time. Outside of the ONE incident I didn't gain much from watching it over the TV.
I never figgured out how to make it full screen. So the 4 pictures were rather small.

Upgrade your Flash player and click the full screen button. :D

Andy I use a 26" Sony TV for my monitor. Once I opened the Race Buddy it went to a size and I couldn't find a way to make it larger.

My monitor has several ways to make full screen but each changes the size of things (faces are silly looking) or by editing the outside of the picture out and only showing the middle..

I expected to find a button that would make it full screen as most videos do..

BTW the Tv is nice as a monitor. I have cable Tv on one input and satellite on another. Then my computer is on another.. I havn't yet figured out how to make 1/2 screen to use two inputs at the same time but that is in the near future.

Bottom-right. Mouse over it and it has an image that pops up that you can click. Click on it and it goes full-screen.

I'll be real curious as to how it looks next week at Loudon. It seems that a road course is a little harder to cover...

For those who are asking, just like the tv race coverage has been saying, it's free and just an option to give you 4 different more screens of race views than the tv. No it's not meant to follow the race like the tv coverage, just extra race views. And all you have to do is click on the icon on nascar.com. And yes it has a very tiny handful of commercials in one corner. That's how they get to make it free. And it's only meant for use during the 6 TNT races.....all you gotta do is watch and listen to the guys talking about during race coverage. It's just a fun little extra bit of coverage.

I actually enjoy it since I can watch the screen when they've gone to commercial. I forget which spin it was, but I saw it on Race Buddy before they got back from commercial and knew they were going to have to show a replay of it. I shouldn't complain since it's free, but I'd like it if you could listen to a particular driver instead of just scanning them. That droning voice announcing the numbers is really annoying! Yeah, I know, it's free .... so I shouldn't complain. :)

Actually, you can listen to one of a certain number of drivers. Can't remember if Jeffy is one, but I listen to Kasey when I've got Live Update going. When I've been using Race Buddy, along with the Live Update and then listen to the drivers, it's a real strain especially with the TV going. None are on the same time frame with the scanner being about 10 to 15 minutes behind. The Live Update sometimes will freeze for a while and the Race Buddy has been jerky of late, but I love them all. I used to watch Pit Command during the race so I could keep track of drivers that might not be on the TV. I'll miss Race Buddy when TNT stops broadcasting, but I wouldn't pay for it.

Isn't Life Update part of Track Pass which you have to pay for? I don't have that except for the one race when it was free last year - the Pepsi/now Coke 400 @ Daytona. I also bring up Fox Trax to keep track of certain drivers (of course Jeff is one! lol) and watch lap times. Along with that and watching the TV, I following a Jeffy board where people who have Track Pass and the Direct TV thing, post the radio messages, so I'm pretty scattered watching a race as it is! I didn't even notice the commercials on "Buddy" until it was mentioned.

I just checked Nascar.com and they're offering free radio transmissions for this up-coming weekend. Oh goody... one more thing to distract me. LOL :D

Live Update is not part of Track Pass, something that I had in the past. It's free and so is the scanner.

Actually, this past weekend was the first time I was at home and didn't use MRN or Hotpass.

I'll take Bill Weber, Wally Dallenback and Kyle Petty's commentary over FOX and ESPN any day. No complaints from me. The commercials are fine since RaceBuddy offers a live view during commercials. TNT rocks. :beerbang:

Ok ole sage one, please tell me where I find Live Update? ;) :D
It's part of RaceView - runs a scroller with a text recap of the latest happenings on track.

I wish they'd make this part of PitCommand, years ago. IndyCar.com has it down, and ARCA Live is improving, but NASCAR.com doesn't have a live update.

I'd be happy with a live simulcast of Sprint Vision with the on-air commentary from FOX/TNT/ESPN/ABC and trackside commentary during tv commercials. I hope FOX will learn soon that fans hate commercials, and that fans want an online solution. ESPN on NASCAR.com and TNT RaceBuddy offer live streaming coverage of the races, so far FOX is the only one not to get the memo.

I like ESPN because, when the race gets postponed to Monday, I can go to NASCAR.com and watch the race online. Hell, even NBC Sports has grasped this concept. My friggin' local news channels have grasped this concept, and it took them a long time to figure out news tickers exist.

Forget what Andy says. He knows little of what he's talking about. When you go to NASCAR.com, notice the image box right there at the top with different pictures to the left and the image changes about every 3 to 5 seconds. The first image tells of the Live Update. If the image changes, just click on the first image on the left, then click on the larger image. It will open the page with running lineup. I will update automatically and sometimes it's actually live. It will give the postion, speed, time, time behind, lap, and laps led and will highlight the driver with the fastest time for that lap. As I say, sometimes it's actually live, but at some tracks, it can lag two, three or four laps for some reason.

Thanks, Buck! I get confused with the different programs out there and where they're located. :)

So LiveUpdate used to be a part of Race View. Sue me.

I don't use NASCAR.com for live running order anyways...I prefer using ESPN.com.
