should IRL add a few road courses to their schedule? it could be good for the sport i think.

I like both ovals and street tracks, so I think it would be nice to see an even amount of both through the season.

Ah the deliema of the open wheel racing. What to do. It's come a long way here in the states, from those wacky USAC midgets to the high tech cars with wings in CART. I honestly believe that the IRL was formed, not just for Tony George, but for those people who would like to see the sport going back to it's roots. In the beginning, road courses were more of a European style of racing and the ovals were more of an American style. George wants to help keep the costs down as well and we all know that the more kinds of tracks you have, the more money that is needed to field cars for those tracks. Only the fan base will force the series to go to more road courses, but if that's the case, it will take a long time. Oh how it's fun to watch a sport grow.

IF they add any it should be no nore than 5 races and all on permant street coruses, Cleveland and Long Beach would be fine as well. the others should be IMS RC, Leguna Seca, Sears Point.

The IRL is about circle tracks. If you want road races, watch Cart. As it is, the IRL puts on some pretty good races. I would hate to see them mess with a good thing.

To my mind the IRL should leave racing period! They are so -_-

Dear Switz, I think you are my new best friend. As for Tony George keeping costs down I would refer you to my somewhat long winded, hard to read at times, post on Michael Andretti. Just because T.G. claims it's about keeping costs down it doesn't make it so. Later!

How can anyone in their right mind like road courses, especially if you attend the event live? Who wants to see 3 seconds of racing (when it comes to your area of the track)? That blows my mind. At least on an oval you can see the whole race and actually USE the speed that the cars were designed for. If you want road racing, stick to the <yawn> boring races that SpeedChannel shows where you have the leader 25 seconds ahead of second place. Amazing.

now I like all forms of racing because well its racing, but to say that stuff you said is obscure. I have yet to see an oval use what cars were designed for, things that come standard these days are a gas petal, brake petal, and a steering wheel that not only turns left but turns equaly as good right! Meanwhile at Road America turn 5 I sit, there they go across the start-finish line, turn 1 zone, 2, 3, 4, 200mph they go, and they appear over the hill, screaming to keep the others behind, roaring to catch the others ahead, brake down the hill and turn a 100degree left then they call apon their horses and away they go up the hill to 6, ok so its like 12-14sec they are visible up close, and all 14 have a white knuckle, adrenline pumping, sweat dripin action, well worth the wait. And yeah I will watch my speed channel and their 25 sec victories, this shows what teams can actually do while not bound inside the ever inclosing box known as nascar. Yeah, I watch nascar because its close, but when I want to see racing I hit the road. :)

Have you seen any other IRL IndyCar race other than the Indy 500 in oh the last 3 or 4 years???? The IRL now has the best RACING in the US and possibly the world!!! Try telling me that the IRL is boring RACING after watching one of the Texas races, or any other race but indy. Indy it the granddaddy of all races but IMO it is the most boring!!! EVRY race except Indy is great Racing!!

NateDogg, Glad you have your opinion, as do I, I merely was stating how I feel, as were you (even though in my opinion, which is all that I'm really concerned with, you're off the beaten path). Great to live in this society where people can think for themselves :) Personally, if I'm going to watch cars go in a circle I'd rather it be on dirt. JUST my opinion though, dont get worked up about it, life is too short. Take care. Right now we have about 18 inches of snow and I can't wait to get to the circle track in Homestead, Florida to see the IRL race. Sun, here we come.

thats cool man, opinions are great and I respect everyones, i'm in the middle between 2 great dirt tracks that a attend to each year, its great, something about leaving the track with part of it on your face  yeah I know I'm off the beaten path, thats why I have a 4x4, lol. I don't usally get worked up, I just get a little excited  hehe. Can't wait for this year in the IRL :D

I don't think the IRL is going to go leave ovals altogether. They are just going to add some road courses.
