I know it may be hard to call, but we all would love for you to call so we would know you're OK.

If you want my phone #, message or email me, and I'll send it to you.

Whizzer is also in the path.

Stay safe, all of you. If you are in low-lying areas, get the hell out.
Take it from someone who has been through a few of these, it's better to get out than stay. Be sure to take important papers and proof you live where you say --- you may not be allowed back in without proof.

Agreed, all of you try your best to get out or stay safe.

Checking in. That storm was a wuss. The nor'easter back in '09 was much worse than this "storm of a lifetime." I can't vouch for those farther north, but most people I've heard from that way are in about the same shape I'm in. Branches down and that about it. Maye out of power. But the east coast is still here, despite the relative guarantee that it would have been wiped off the map by Irene.

Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts though.

East coasters, check in if you can. We'd like to make sure you're ok .

Irene sucked.

MSNBC said Southern Maryland got hit the hardest from Irene. My personal experiences, the pictures I took this morning and the calls I got from friends to the east in St. Mary's County seem to back that up.

Me and my sister both left the low-lying areas we were at to stay with our mother. Power went out all night and trees came down in the house right next to us. Winds were wicked. I drove around today and got pictures for the news net... La Plata and Cobb Island were wrecked. My sister's basement flooded and several trees came down in her house -- if she would've stayed, her brand new Jeep would've been ********ed.

Had no cell service all day -- don't know if it was a cell tower thing (although my friends on Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile had service all day) or an AT&T thing. But I made out pretty well, and am moving tomorrow (inland:D). Some people lost everything -- the pictures of trees crashing through homes and stuff.

The pictures I got in Cobb Island are a perfect reason to evacuate, if the people I interviewed today had not evacuated, no doubt about it, they would've been dead.

And if MSNBC and CNN are still desperate for their storm of a lifetime aftermath pictures, I suggest they head to extreme southern Charles County, Calvert County and St. Mary's County.

If these people hadn't evacuated, they would be DEAD. Yes, we can say the media overhyped this and that, but it's all in hindsight.

I know there are some people who are no longer able to comment that would most likely say it was a storm.

As would people who have lost property, personal possessions, family pets, businesses and the like.

Just because the storm didn't effect three hundred million and ONE doesn't mean it didn't effect anyone.

People have lost their lives due to this mess and that's no joke nor should it be trvialized!!!

Ask the people in Vermont about the storm --- the pics I've seen of the flooding is just horrible.

Ask the people in NJ about the flooding, also.

One could also ask the people who put their lives on the line to assist others what it's like :beerbang:

Things are fine where I am this morning, relatively speaking. Along the Pemigewassett river (which crested 11 feet above flood stage), and further south on the Connecticut, not so much.

This is 5-6 feet of water over the main road in Holderness going into Plymouth, right where it crosses under the interstate:

It's even worse when you go Southwest from there. There have been landslides, sinkholes opening up, and entire houses and roads swept away. There is also some fairly significant wind damage in parts of NH.

Thanks for the update, Jameswnh. I guess I didn't realize you were in New England.

Glad all is well with you.

I haven't seen pics out of NH in the news.

Weather was talking about a storm possibly forming in the Gulf of Mexico this week and hitting Eastern Texas. At this point, I'm sure you guys would love the rain.

west arlington got some. only a few drops on my windshield going to school, but the roads in pantego has a good 2" of water pooled (the streets in pantego don't have drains, so it pools up in the road)
