Why all of the secrecy? They are to be testing these cars @ Homestead today. If anyone finds the pics, because you know they'll be out there, please post them.

All four 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car models are scheduled to be tested at Homestead-Miami Speedway February 1st…in a test that will apparently be closed. That may be the first time crewmen get to see all four models. Why is NASCAR, and its big marketing operation, taking such seemingly a low-keyed approach? Apparently because the sanctioning body has not yet 'aero-matched' the four models in the wind tunnel.

From Jayski.....

I am hoping a driver sneaks a shot and posts it on twitter...

yea they may get in trouble, but maybe a crew member slips up or something....just thinking positively

Apparently because the sanctioning body has not yet 'aero-matched' the four models in the wind tunnel. Ford is billing its new model as a Fusion (not Mustang, as once planned), and when the car maker officially unveiled its 2013 street version, it was then free to take the wraps off the NASCAR version which is decidedly different from the current Sprint Cup model, the still controversial and not greatly liked by many car-of-tomorrow. Chevrolet, for example, still hasn't officially named its model for its 2013 NASCAR Cup racer.(MikeMulhern.net)(1-25-2012)
UPDATE: #5-Kasey Kahne tweeted that he will be participating in the test. No other drivers have been announced.(2-1-2012)

Sounds like the four drivers participating in the #NASCAR new car test are @kaseykahne @KyleBusch @matt_kenseth17 & @SamHornish

After his first run in the 2013 model Kyle Busch proclaimed that the car "sucks"! ;)

From Matt Kenseths twitter account recently

Hey @KyleBusch , @kaseykahne and I were wondering if you could pick it up a little this afternoon?

If I were a driver, I would have an annonymous account and post my true opinions through a proxy server.

have a twitter account called, not the real brad, and just bash the crap out of NASCAR when you feel it's necessary. I like it.

I just had an idea. Carl Edwards doesn't have a twitter account. Maybe we could make one for him, along with a few juicy posts to get the Brains attention.

Dude, let's do it! Sounds like something we could hold back on until Carl does something stupid. He doesn't do it as often as he used to, but that sounds like a lot of fun. NASCAR would have a hay day policing that if you started up one for say, 30 drivers. A lot of work, but a lot of fun in the end if you had the time and resources.

I only say this because I don't think that putting a muzzle on drivers makes NASCAR look positive. If there is a controversial item, let it be discussed in an open forum. That would generate a ton of sellable material to the media and NASCAR would look favorable to the fan. But Ramsey Poston would never advise this to Brian. NEVER. To susceptible to scrutiny.

I think you're onto something. We could have a bunch of "Not_Driver_X" accounts and post what they might actually say if they had Nazi repellant.

Seriously though, I have to agree with most of NASCAR's fines to drivers for what they say. Newman denegrating fans for going to a race at Pocono, Hamlin calling nascar the WWE, and Kez's remarks about their motives for going to EFI were all out of line.

cant tell if those headlights are corvette or...? definitely not anything i recognize.

Apparently JJ wasn't at the test for the new body, so that's the old car. It's sad that a few stickers pass for body style these days.

Yep thats what Florida looks like on a winter morning in Febuary, a lil fog and a chilly 60 degrees thankfully it warms up to low 70's or we'd all perish from the cold
