Today's Xfinity race shows three things that need to be fixed.

1. Plate racing sucks. Too many drivers getting hurt in these races.

2. SAFER barriers should be everywhere on every track where a car can make contact with the wall at speed.

3. Cup drivers should not be racing in the lower levels. I don't know how many more of them have to get knocked out of Cup races before the owners decide to park them.

Kyle's impact could have easily happened at a track like Michigan, even though wrecks are less frequent. Tbh I can't remember a driver getting injured in NASCAR too frequently as of late, let alone Daytona and Talladega. Plate Racing offers a different, interesting style of racing that is okay to see a few times every year. Daytona should definitely have SAFER walls everywhere, considering it's the home to a 24 hour Sports Car race, the most prestigious stock car race in the world, the 2nd most prestigious race in North America, a prestigious Sport Bike race, and well... they don't call it the World Center of Racing for nothing. Kyle, or any driver, running a series with the exact same risk of injury as racing in Cup is fine. Tony Stewart running a Sprint Car at a cheap local track is different, but XFINITY has high safety maintenance.

Well, racing at the biggest tracks has always been a dangerous endeavour. Ever since Talladega came about, there have been protests and boycotts.

Though I will say, there were too many crashes in that race. What happened with Larson and Almirola looked similar to what happened with Jones and Busch.

1. I agree with you. As a fan I find it more nerve wracking than fun. You just know there's going to be nasty crashes and it's just a matter of who's in it, when it happens, and if it puts fans in harms way. Larson nearly ended up in the crowd, McClure had that very scary crash at Dega (one of the scariest I'd seen in quite awhile), Annett was hurt quite badly, now Kyle's injured and out.

2. Personally I think there are places where the old fashioned tire and foam combo would be better. I doubt Jimmie Johnson would still be racing today if he had hit a SAFER and concrete barrier instead of tires/foam/armco at the Glen in his big BGN crash.

3. I agree and disagree. The danger has always been there, and overall there haven't been too many Cup drivers miss races do to injury from the lower tier races. And it used to be really fun to watch some of the Cup guys race in BGN. But they weren't driving cars that were engineered by their cup teams and so superior to what the BGN teams had. Now the multi car cup affiliated teams are so superior most of the Xfinity teams are unable to compete.

Yeah, for road courses, it's different.
