Todd Parrott is another moron

I think the world of Todd and Brad and Buddy , the whole family are great Nascar people . I hope Todd goes through the program and gets back to work asap . For those who want to throw him under the bus without any facts . ***** ***

Without any facts?

Oh yeah, this is the magical over the counter drugs. Not Todd's fault. My bad.

You guys really are quick to criticize in a situation like this. When someone like Todd Parrott gets popped, I can't just hammer the nail in the coffin that easily.

We literally have NO information on what he tested positive for or how.

It couldn't have been anything good. Not like he was on cough drops.

Something illegal as far as NASCAR is concern.

They dont pop you this fast unless they are certain.

Unless it is a false positive test does it really matter what he took? It was something not approved by Nascar.

I am sure we will get the took an unknown pill from a friend story that AJ threw at us...

I feel like there are so many variables when it comes to failing a drug test, we really have to get details before we crucify someone.

I can't see a crew chief who's been in the sport for over 20 years(and who knows how many nascar sanctioned drug tests) suddenly straying from the straight and narrow.

I'm not saying he's innocent, just not proven guilty. I feel like NASCAR is wayy to vague when it comes to these initial announcements.

And it is against the law to disclose it, right to privacy, unless Todd himself does. He could have taken a swig of his wife's cough syrup and failed the thing. I'm sure he will do the road to recovery thing and get his job back. They had a story last week of something sold at convenience stores that had some of the ingredients of methamphetamine in it. Last summer they were selling some cigs type stuff that would fail you for THC. Synthetic drugs that aren't approved by the FDA is rampant, but will fail you on a test.

I doubt NASCAR is going to suspend a guy over cough medicine. We went over all this during the Jeremy Mayfield saga and, in the end, look how that turned out. If it's harmless, NASCAR will tailor their recovery program to it and he'll be back in no time.

This is so crazy. Hopefully he can get back to work, he was the best thing that ever happened for Almirola.

There are questions you are asked BEFORE a drug test to clear up that kind of problem. It gives you the chance to declare that you may have taken a over the counter product that may result in a positive.

For a drug test exclusively? Or a physical? Honest question.

that would be a positive test for codeine, schedule 2 narcotic, hydrocodone is derived from it synthetically . So when you take something for your cough at home, commonly prescribed for a cold from say another family member and get tested, with out the prescription being in your own name, your story isn't believed..did ya get that? Codeine isn't harmless, although a harmless mistake can be made to take a swallow for a cough. so these so quick to ditch the guy without a benefit of the doubt, can see how simple it can happen. Zero tolerance, + test automatic suspension. I have been tested at least four times a year for the last 9 years, so Andy, I know a little about the drill. If they gave him a hair test, that is the history for however long he has had the hair on his head, those are very expensive tests. That will show alcohol use on up to the harder drugs to catch like opiates and go fast drugs that leave your system quickly.

horse hocky..you don't have a prescription for it, that is a positive test.

Drug test.Certain OTC cold and allergy meds will show as a positive for meth and others will show as positives for other things. That's why they give you a chance to declare that you took them BEFORE you take the test.and they can test it further to see if you are telling the truth.

they have an ankle bracelet now that monitors your sweat produced by your sweat glans and it tests for alcohol, opiates, and the various ingredients in Methamphetamine. It also has a gps programmed that will alert the local law if you venture close to bars or casino's and liquor store's..how bout that Mikey honcho?

From ESPN:

So, if a driver has a cold can he take anything without being busted?

Sure. The rulebook even goes so far as to say that NASCAR recognizes that people need to take medicine. They just need to take it as directed. All NASCAR licensees are instructed to provide a list of prescriptions to Aukerman and to update that list whenever a new medicine is prescribed. This is in addition to the list provided during the test itself. Simply put, there should be no surprises on either end when the results come back.

If there are any questions at all, a substance abuse policy email address and phone number are provided in the rulebook.

And there's this: http://media.charlotteobserver.com/images/pdf/nascarpolicy.pdf

So, as I said before, if he has a cold and is taking cough medicine, I seriously doubt NASCAR's gonna suspend the man for it.

And out of those 9 years and countless drug tests, have you ever gotten a positive for over the counter stuff?

Just saying, it cant be that random if one gets caught and the other one doesn't.

Just another dont know what he did ........... dont know when he did it ................... dont know IF he did it non-story

You are correct StandIn****.That also will show false positive for alcohol after using mouthwash or certain hand sanitizers

It's NASCAR's sandbox. Want to play in it? Play by their rules. I trust NASCAR and I trust their judgement when it comes to issues like drug testing and competitor safety.

It is a story here. :D :D

I see that ............... the AJ almendinger deal about drove me nuts. All for a mid pack driver that took one stupid pill. I know whats his names crew chief will be missed by somebody, I just dont know who :D

How about a real story like------------ What cooling system package they runnin at dega or something like that

Reck, I got lucky once, I tested positive for codeine we all had colds at the same time, and all got the same meds. I had a coughing fit in the middle of the night, took a swig and the very next A.M I was pulled out of my truck with a substitute driver and drove to the testing lab at 5:30 in the morning for a pee test. 3 days later the testers called me and said I tested positive for a schedule two narcotic. I said that can't be and asked what it could be, one of the things she listed was the cough syrup. I went home and luckily the bottle left was mine. so I had to give them all the information on the bottle, it was almost three years old and I was sweating that.
