NASCAR NEXTEL Cup crew chief Tommy Baldwin was fined $10,000 for an incident that occurred this past weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

Baldwin, the crew chief for the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge of Kasey Kahne, was fined $5,000 for violating Section 12-4-A of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Rule Book (Actions detrimental to stock car racing). That penalty was assessed for being involved in an altercation in another Competitor's pit area.

Baldwin also was fined $5,000 for violating Section 9-4-A of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Rule Book (The crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his/her driver, car owner and team members), and placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2004.

The incident occurred during Sunday's Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland.

Tony didnt have control over what happened in the pits he was driving remember, so there wasn't a lesson for Tony to learn.
Would someone please explain the difference between Tony getting hot headed and confronting Vickers a couple weeks ago and Baldwin getting hot headed and confronting Zippy about his "moron driver"? Because to me they were both wrong but the people defending Baldwin now seem to be the same people that scream suspension when Tony pulls one of his stupid acts.

I never called for suspension for Tony. Figured what he got was fair. :) And I also never called for Tommy's suspension......again I figure what he got is fair. :D :D

I am gonna vote for Dee Dee for Pres!!!! LOL

And DE_W, that's ok too. I know you did not call for the hangman either. LOL

Well, just in case some missed the opinion by da ole Whizzer in any other posts, my opinion has not changed at all.

Tony Stewart should have been suspended for no less than one race for his act against Vickers. Stewart has a proven history of physical confrontations and although they were not against the same person (which NASCAR focused on with the Spencer/Busch issue) the reasons and precedent have been set.

Tommy Baldwin, Jr. should be suspended for his actions Sunday for engaging in a physical confrontation in Stewart's pit.

There is no reason for fists to fly in this sport. It ain't hockey!!!!!

It is up to NASCAR to PROVE they will be consistent in enforcing ALL penalties equally in the future.

If my interpretation of the precedent established by NASCAR with the incidents concerning Spencer and then Stewart, is correct, Tommy Baldwin, Jr. has one more chance to do battle with Zippadelli before a suspension is enforced.
