Eury Jr to assume crew chief duties of the #8: during the rain delay of the NAPA 500 at Atlanta, NBC Pit Reporter said that Tony Eury Jr, driver Dale Earnhardt Jr's cousin, would be the crew chief of the #8 Bud Chevy in 2003 with current crew chief Tony Eury Sr assuming a different role.(10-27-200

Personally, I think this is a bad call...Jr and Jr bicker way too much for this to work out...hopefully I'm wrong, But I don't see Tony Jr as a good choice for this......guess we'll see!!!

I'm not sure having a cousin as a crew cheif is the best idea either. They put a great deal of pressure on Dale Jr. sometimes. I wonder what prompted the change, though.

If my memory serves me correctly, didn't they try this already? I seem to remember Big E replacing Eury Jr. with Eury Sr. as crew chief a few years back?

I don't think it is the best idea either. Too much pressure is on that team already. I don't know how Jr. will be able to handle it especially if his cousin is pushing him.

Maybe they both have matured since the last time they tried this. I somehow don't think that Tony Sr. is going to be too far away from the situation. I also don't think that the powers to be at DEI will let the situation deteriorate to a level that will effect team performance. Perhaps some of this bickering, especially during the race, serves as a stress reliever for both Jr. and Tony Jr.

Tony Jr has never been in the crew cheif position.

I believe this is good for the team. Time will tell. Tony Jr does a lot of the actual work on the cars so I wonder how that will be affected being head dog?

Tony Jr knows what he's doing... I think this is a good call. Sure they've had problems before, but its life man.... it happens. They'll be a force next year.

I think its for the better. I'm sure DEI knows what they are doing.
