Stewart is at Indy right now and MAY try to qualify a 3rd AJ Foyt Racing Indy.

It was raining earlier, but qualifying is expected to resume in the next 15 to 20 minutes. Tony Stewart's name is on the 3rd AJ Foyt car and he's seeking a driving suit to borrow to qualify the car?

AJ Foyt doesn't field Chevy's so that might be a conflict with Tony's Chevy Cup contract?

It's high drama at Indy.
 
Well they stated that Tony filled out the paper work needed to Qualify so I guess he's going too.
 
Abc was carrying the coverage but it ended at 6pm. TonyB keep the updates coming :cheers:
 
It's on ESPN2 now.

ESPN2 just interviewed Tony's attorney. The attorney said that they are burning up the phone lines trying to get clearance (he did say from who but it sounds like Joe Gibbs and Chevy) to qualify the AJ Foyt car.

It sounds like his attorney has advised him not to even take practice laps until it is cleared, so if he does make a qualifying effort, it will probably be at the last second without any practice laps.
 
EPSN2 is interviewing Tony right now and it sounds like he will NOT make a qualifying effort. Sounds like Joe Gibbs Racing said "No."
 
Thanks for the info TonyB I turned over and caught the last little bit from Tony's interview.
 
It's over and Tony didn't make a qualifying attempt.

In all only 33 cars attempted to qualify for the 33 spots.
 
Man I was kinda hoping he would get to race open wheel again.

Who knows? Maybe he might decide to take his temper back to open wheel full-time :p

Just kidding, I wouldn't like to see Tony leave but he could get a little better grip on himself though. <_<
