I knew that there were way too many lawyers in this country. But, I didn't know how bad the epidemic was until my son was involved in a very minor traffic accident a few days ago.

We've received all kinds of mail from various ambulance chasers wanting to represent us against the crazy old woman who pulled out in front of him. He was not even slightly injured in any way. He was driving my 99 Lumina sedan and she was driving a newer minivan. My bumber was a little scuffed up and my hood has a small bend in it. Her minivan didn't fair nearly as well. She was sighted, as she should have been, but she wasn't injured either. I thought it was kind of funny when these solicitations started including copies of the actual police report. That just struck me as kind of odd.

Body shops in Providence have "chasers". They cruise around listening to the police radios. Many times they are the first on the scene well before police or EMT's. They want your car in their shop, they also refer attorneys who work with them and "specialize" in auto accidents. They offer advice as to what to do and say at the scene and what not to do or say.

Same thing happened to hubby years ago when someone just took a left turn into the side of my Suburban. Lawyer letters just flooded in like a snowstorm.
