Top 10 on Stage (Not 12)

I have a problem with the NASCAR awards ceremony only recognizing the Top 10 on stage. If making the Chase is such a big deal, which NASCAR says it is (And I agree it is an accomplishment), then why do they not recognize all of the Chase drivers?

I heard Carl state that all he wanted was to make the Top 10 on Sunday at Miami Homestead Speedway so he could go to New York.

I think Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. have earned the right to go to New York as well. Agree or Disagree?

I agree. If there was 12 in the chase then 12 should be on the stage in NYC.

I disagree. They will probably sometime in the future add 15 cars to the chase and after that maybe 20 cars. I vote to keep it at 10. OK buckaroo, go ahead and call me an old fogie resisting change. :)

Let me know how it turns out guys.

One very pissed off race fan is incapable of seeing the NNCS Awards Ceremony because it's on a network of ESPN that is not avaliable in Charles County.

I don't know if I'm madder at Comcast (I'm still looking for those 100+ HD channels they keep advertising) or if I'm mad at ESPN.

When will it end?

Ya know there are 2 other options for you.....Get a Dish and stop Crying:rolleyes:

Y'all are missing the nuances that is the "new" Chase format. We not only have the chase to be #1 and the chase to be #13 (for the $1M check) but now we have the chase to not be #11 or #12 so you can be on the stage.
That Brian France is a genius, I tell you what...

I agree with only allowing the top 10 on stage. That gives the drivers outside the top 10 something to shoot for. It should be a priviledge to be on that stage and not a handout. The Chase itself is already a handout as it is.

Very good point

Since the whole thing is stupid as far as I'm concerned, if they're going to make such a big deal out of it, then let them all on stage. Why only cut off the final 2 drivers? If they add to it, get a bigger stage. It's your "brain child" Brian. :einstein:  :dunce:

You don't have to be an old fogie to resist change. Hey, there are plenty of youngsters here who do that. :p

I honestly miss the old days when the banquet was not designed as a televised event. ESPN would televise it, but would miss things now and then because of commercials. Nowdays, they have dippy MC's who know virtually nothing about the sport, entertainment that is meant to curry favor with the TV audience, and all those special videos. I don't even watch it now. Anyone remember all the tears that little Jeffy had when he won his first and second title? We don't see any real emotion like that any more. :(

Yea, it's nothing but another boring awards show, has been for a few years now. I think the last time I actually watched the majority of the show was when Tony Stewart took his coat off onstage to expose the HANS device he was wearing.

And anyone remember when Ricky Rudd brought out the handkerchief for Davey Allison to cry in??

What a riot!! Jeffy crying, hankerchiefs, HANS devices and gold combs! I miss all the good stuff! :D I've seen video of Jeff crying like a baby when he won his first race or was it the championship? I don't know.. he looked like a baby...... so YOUNG!! So he cried at the banquets, too. No wonder everyone calls him a cry baby. heh heh... Ah hell, I wouldn't have minded seeing him cry THIS YEAR! ;)
