Top 20 drivers to never win a cup race

I’ll give a nod to Todd Bodine. Dude won a **** ton in Busch and Trucks. Drove nothing but garbage at the Cup level.

I have a hero card from like '96 that says they expect him to win soon
He could have won if he would have used his bumper one time at Darlington. Early in is career he was running second to Jarret near the end and probably should have passed him, but Musgrave took the high road and backed off. I don't think at the time he realized that would be his best chance to win a cup race. He was a good driver and one of the fan friendliest drivers I have ever met. His son Teddy Jr still races an occasional LM.
Also, nice words in the article about Dave Blaney.
These are two of my all time favorite drivers. Winning is great, but sometimes it isn't everything.

Dick Trickle IMO
In my opinion too...anyone that can win rookie of the year at 48 makes one wonder what he would have been like at 38...or 28.

The guy could unload his #99 late model anywhere in the country, make a lap, get fast time...and then dominate the race even if he had never been there. First time at the Snowball...he blew everyone away...first time at I40, blew them away, same at I70, at Bakersfield, at Las Vegas...did not matter where, he and his home built car dominated.

I dont think Trickle won the Derby but I agree he's a good one.

The list is correct about Cecil Gordon. By any statistical measure that is the top answer, and it isn't close.

Anyone remember Hut almost winning the southern 500 in 96?

If I remember it right, his pit stops were off sequence for awhile and he was leading many laps until it would switch over the Jeff Gordon again.

I remember him having some really good runs in the Reybestos #12 Buick(beautiful car) which got him the JJ ride. Nothing stands out about the '96 Southern 500 when I think back. I'll have to check it out on youtube later.

I remember in Ernie irvan's book he basically threw Hut Strickland under the bus for the Talladega race where Hut drove for him. i guess Hut had his own plan and cost the team the race

I think Skinner got screwed being Dale's teammate. Dale absolutely HATED having a teammate

Hard to believe Horanday only drove 46 cup races. He started too late

Yep, in the #8 Circuit City car.

You could always tell what Jimmy Spencer's next ride would be by where Hut was at that time. Jimmy replaced Hut four different times: in the Rod Osterlund #57 Heinz car, in the Bobby Allison #12 car, in the Junior Johnson #27 McDonald's car, and in the Travis Carter #23 Smokin' Joe's car.
