I was just thinking about this the other day. Who do you think are the best NASCAR drivers without a ride? In my opinion, they are (in order):

Brian Ickler (very little starts in the trucks, but kicked major ass in the starts he had)
AJ Allmendinger (he's doing solid with mediocre equipment -- imagine what he would do with better equipment)
Todd Bodine (he's a past 2 time champ -- need I say more?)
Scott Wimmer (done amazing in NW in the starts he had -- cup is another matter though)
Travis Kvapil (done great in the time he had with Yates -- deserves a better ride than BK)
 
I like all those guys , but realistically , the new young guns , like Kyle Larson , Ross Kenseth , Chase Elliott , Ryan Truex , Bubba Wallace , and half a dozen others , are all likely higher on the waiting list .
 
Erik Darnell. I was always impressed by him when he ran the 99 truck.
 
Roushes 'Gong Show' was a great way for up and comers to show their stuff.
