Top teams, based on points average

So what's the best way to rank teams? Here's how I did it: I took all of the teams in the sport (Penske, Roush, etc.), who were in the top-40 in owner points, and averaged out the total points per car, without regard for who was drving - it's owner points, not driver points. Here's how they stacked up.

1. Penske Racing (2, 12) ---- 4583.5
- 6th (12) and 7th (2) in owner points

2. Roush Racing (6, 17, 97, 99) ---- 4523.5
- 2nd (6), 3rd (97), 9th (17), and 13th (99)

3. Robert Yates Racing (28, 88) ---- 4369
- 10th (88) and 11th (28) in owner points

4. Joe Gibbs Racing (18, 20) ---- 4305
- 1st (20) and 17th (18)

5. Chip Ganassi Racing (40, 41) ---- 3929.5
- 8th (40) and 27th (41)

6. Hendrick Motorsports (5, 24, 25, 48) ---- 3892
- 4th (24), 5th (48), 25th (5), and 34th (25)

7. PPI Motorsports (32) ---- 3888
- 16th, the highest single-car team

8. DEI (1, 8, 15) ---- 3778.3
- 12th (8), 15th (15), and 31st (1)

9. Jasper Motorsports (77) ---- 3670
- 19th

10. Richard Childress Racing (29, 30, 31) ---- 3634.7
- 18th (30), 20th (31), and 22nd (29)

11. Wood Brothers Racing (21) ---- 3418
- 24th

12. Evernham/Ultra Motorsports (7, 9, 19) ---- 3388
- 14th (9), 28th (19), and 38th (7)

13. MBV/MB2 Motorsports (10, 36) ---- 3268.5
- 21st (10) and 33rd (36)

14. Bill Davis Racing (22, 23) ---- 3219.5
- 26th (22) and 32nd (23)

15. Andy Petree Racing (55) ---- 3169
- 29th

16. Petty Enterprises (43, 44, 45) ---- 3111.3
- 23rd (45), 30th (43), and 39th (44)

17. Morgan-McClure Motorsports (4) ---- 2886
- 35th

18. Carter-Hass Motorsports (26) ---- 2830
- 36th

19. A.J. Foyt Racing (14) ---- 2779
- 37th

20. Brett Bodine Racing (11) ---- 2388
- 40th

Thats a cool idea!! Don't like who came out first.
I was surprised to see PE in the top 20. Kyle did ok but the other cars did not.
(When you did MBV/MB2 did you use Johnny's driver points or the car owner points?)

Everything there was based entirely on owner points. I cut it off at the top-40, because those were the only full-time teams this season. All of the top-40 made at least 32 starts, no other team made more than 17.

roush second with with 4 cars, i think that shows its 4 teams working as 1

Penske Racing had a good year just hope they can match it next year with the manufactors change.
