My workplace building's supposedly been destroyed.

Omg thats horrible! But good thing you weren't at work!

So happy we don't get Tornados here!

be careful, dont wanna jinx it.

But, I thought we didn't get tornadoes here in this area.

Thank you magnet for jinxing us. Within a week of you saying we don't get that many tornadoes here, we get hit.

Not blaming you, just an observation. ;)

Yeah you just get snow of almost 4 feet in 1996...and over 2 feet fell in 24 hours. Then that was followed that fall by 4 killer hurricanes...Bertha, Edouard, Fran and Hortense.
So, no you don't get tornados but you're hardly weather friendly either...

I've narrowly missed a tornado before. Was 16 or 17, just newly learned how to drive, and planned on taking a trip to see my grandma and grandpa, took the wrong directions, so I freaked out and called it off, and phoned my mom for help... Little did I know had I kept going the right way, the tornado that was just about to hit the city would run straight through that highway I was going on. We were at a steakhouse later that day (just off of that highway I was on) and the tornado touched down literally right across the street, overturning cars in the parking lot and taking down power lines. We didn't think there was a full blown tornado, we just had the power go out inside the steakhouse and figured there was a thunderstorm.

I'm glad you're ok. The business can be rebuilt. I've had some experience with tornados, they're no fun. I hope things will get better in your part of the country.

Tornadoes are just like hurricanes and earthquakes. If they happen where you live, you get used to them. It's when they happen rarely that gets to you. Glad that all seems to be okay with you Andy.

Some years ago, an F0 or F1 tornado went right over my head while I was walking a route. I was able to get to a covered porch and held on for dear life. Though the tornado was one of the smallest to be qualified, I can tell you that it scared the poop out of me. Only lasted a few minutes, but I was praying for my life while holding onto anything I could on that porch. The storm didn't damage anything that close to me, but across the street an out building was demolished and many trees were taken down.

Damage was minimal, did not destroy my workplace. ;) Just knocked the roofs off some townhomes, but nothing too serious.

A school near where I had been moments before the PG tornado was devastated.

Ya tell me about it! My sister was born, and my dad had open-heart surgery the same week! The weather here can get pretty intence! November 9, 2006 we had a massive windstorm here that knocked out the power for 2 weeks in some places. It was the worst seen here in over a centery

Funny tornado story. We were in Zebulon at a car dealership buying a car. Sitting at the table in a metal pre-fab building that was 3 sides of glass my wife saw a tornado coming right at us. We all herded into the bathrooms. At least they were in the center of the building and with the plumbing would be the safest area.
So here I am with my arms wrapped around the comode and my wifes arms wrapped around me. Everyone else was just trying to get as low as they could. We heard the tornado hit. When we went outside a goodly portion of the building was gone. There were cars overturned everywhere. Some that had been on the raised platforms were now out in the street on their roofs.
The car I was trading in had a small amount of damage to it. But the car I was buying had been taken into the back for prepping. It survived without a scratch. And they still allowed me the full trade in on my now damaged car.
The police and firetrucks arrive to the scene. Next we knew heres a po-po running our way yelling that another tornado was heading our way.
It missed us, but what a day...
