There was a special race and ceremony honoring the old drivers and owners a couple of Saturdays ago at the track I do some announcing at. They did a "walk of fame" with right (throttle) footprints in the concrete and all. But the highlite for me was getting to load up the band I play with and entertain them before the main ceremonies.

Not sure just what we're doing right here but I know I got to do a couple of my originals about a certain business conducted on those two lane roads up in the mountains. That's me in the "old school" racing uniform of white pants and red shirt. We had a ball.

I think that is a wonderful thing to celebrate. I read about this on another forum. :D Thanks for sharing.

What a hoot and I know everyone had loads of fun. Those old drivers and race days are precious. Wish we could all relive those days of thunder. :beerbang:

Here we have NEAR, New England Antique Racers and STAR, Senior Tour Antique Racers. More of a parade lap type racing but it's great to see those cars out on the track again. And the guys who made the sport what it is behind the wheel. Some are in their 80's! Love looking at the cars and talking with them.

btw, at the base of the music stand is that a 6 of liquid guitar tuner?:D

That's some of that "near miss" guitar tuner that the mandolin player brought. I'm trying to make a real bluegrasser out of him but I've got a little ways to go yet.

Here's the REAL STUFF that true Blue Grass pickers use to get "tuned", as Curtis Turner used to say. I've got a friend that is connected to Junior (the REAL one, from Wilkes County) that makes sure tuning isn't a problem. It's made from the original Johnson family recipe. :D

That's interesting, I lived up near Juniors neck of the woods, and seemed like everyone who "canned corn" had a connection to Junior. I have had some really "smooth" stuff from Wilkes county before, it'll keep you warm on a cold Carolina winter night.

Don't be confused by the words Carolina Moonshine on either Jr. Johnson's Midnight Moon or Catdaddy neither of which are stronger than your average bottle of vodka. Both are 80 proof, (40% alcohol), flavored & simply called moonshine. Everclear is as close as you are going to get over the counter. It comes in 151 proof, (75.5% alcohol) and 190 proof, (95% alcohol). Drink Everclear with extreme caution. :D
