Two weeks ago we had a rookie come out to the track to race with us. On the second lap I passed him going down the front straight cleanly. Going into turn one, he hit me in the bumper pretty hard and loosened my car up. Before I could get it straightened back out, he hit me again and finished the job. He recieved the black flag for this but did not acknowledge it. I do not know why the track did not force him to leave the track. Later on in the same race, he spun another fellow competitor out right in front of me and I was caught up in another of his out of control adventures.
Last night, at the start of our feature, I was lined up right behind him. I was in the second row. When the green flagged dropped, #55 drifted up high into the slop and left an opening for me to drive through. Comming out of turn four on the start I had pulled up next to him. At our track, when the green flag drops, you can start racing. We were wheel to wheel when he came down and hit me, witch was fine but he bounced off me and parked it in the wall. I chalk the whole thing to a rookie not knowing when to back out of the gas to save his car. The track obviously does not feel that I did anything wrong because I was not sent to the back, had no fingers or flags pointed at me or any other such clues that they were unhappy with me. In fact i suspect the fellow behind me may of gotten into his back bumper to help loosen him up because he was blacked flagged on the incident.
When i got back to the pits, I loaded the car up, and approached the guy to let him know I didn't put him in the wall. He was pissed and yelled a bunch of crap that was not true, like the green flagged hadn't come out yet (if the green was not out, why was he racing me?) I mean, if somebody gets under me, I respect the fact that they took my lane. I do not try to take it back by force. I race in the lane I have left. It might not be the best lane, but I do not tear my car or tires up for one position. The damn tires are $90 bucks a piece. I can not afford to buy to many of them and I do not appreciate fixing my car every week.
Next week I'll be on the track with the same guy and probably have to pass him again. I have a much faster car than him. Hopefully he'll respect my lane when I get next to him cause I do not intend to yield and I do not intend to be spun out. I already recruited a little muscle to go into the pits with me. We'll see what happens.
