Anybody in here ever have a trigger point injection? I'm scheduled for my first one tomorrow morning at my normal monthly pain management appointment. I've done a little research on the internet here, and it sounds kind of painful, but it also sounds like it can give a lot of relief. I'm in so much pain anymore that I am willing to try just about anything. My primary area for pain is my low to mid back.

Anybody else have any experience with this?

I have had direct injections in my lower back, don't know if that constitutes trigger point or not. It helped, but not for very long, due to my L5 being partially ruptored. What helped me the most out of anything and saved me from going under the knife was going to a Chiropractor and going through 7 treatments on an ABS table. This basically slowly stretches your back, pulls the spine and creates more space between your discs, which stops the pinching of the nerves. After I went through this I was back lifting in the gym and even doing squats and deadlifts within about 3 months. I've been pain free for 7 years now, still lift even heavier than I used to, and other than a little bit of permanent nerve damage to my left foot I'm fine. Lower back injuries are the worst, I'll take a knee or shoulder any day over a back injury!

Well, I did some research on the internet. I even saw a few done on youtube. But, my doctor said that what they were calling trigger point injections on youtube really were something else similar. He ended up doing a total of 10 injections. I have a little relief in my mid to upper back, but my lower back is pretty sore. I think it's from having needles injected in the muscle.

I was hoping for a little more relief, but I really wasn't expecting much. I have a lot more confidence in my current pain management doctor than I have had in any other doctor I've ever seen for my back. But, my back just seems to be pretty resistant to change, other than getting worse, of course.
