I hope I word this one so it makes sense.

In a span of four consecutive years, pre 1970., one driver in each of those four years, won every race they entered. Can you name the year and the drivers name.

If I read this correctly the answer is Riverside. But each year is not a different driver.

Gurney did it in 1965, 1966, and 1968

Parnelli Jones did in 1967.

Give ya little addendum to this one.

In addition to the four years first mentioned, dan Gurney also won the Riverside race in 1964.

In those five years Dan and Parnelli had one thing in common throughout. What is it?

They were indeed all Fords. But looking for something a bit more specific.;)

Wings?

Not what I had in mind......don't think they had wings, no.

The answer is NASCAR related, no other racing involved.

The equipment is the key.

BF Goodwrich or Big Blocks...omg it's a Pylmouth

This was Dan at Riverside btw

Yep that is Gurney. In 1970 in one of the Petty Enterprises Superbirds. Dan put it on the pole but had problems and ended up some 4 or 5 laps off the pace. I think he still netted a top 10 finish even at that.

But he was not in a Plymouth in the 60's.

I believe that was the only nascar race he entered at Riverside that he didn't win. I had a picture of him in a Ford somewhere.

Dan Link

This is the story of Dan's last race at Riverside in 1980. "Gurney’s off-course pass of Earnhardt brought the crowd to its feet, waving Gurney for President banners, as the Riverside legend shot across the dirt between the third and forth turns to make the pass.".....I always wondered where Waltrip learned that move.:D

This is the other car that failed Dan at Riverside. Gearbox. So I guess it was 5 for 7 with 4 in a row instead of 5 for 6.

Wood Brothers is the answer which I sought!

Dan's other win, 1963, was in Holman Moody Ford bearing a number another non-southerner was to make famous for that stable. #28

Even back then ya wasn't gonna win much or often without a good horse, and vice versa.

One of my fave placed to be at Riverside was inside of 3 and 4. Ol DW used to shoot the dirt there more than anybody. Sometimes a driver would stay in the dirt from 2 to just past 5, powersliding in to position to go up the hill to 6, passing way more than just a couple cars in the process.

I think how it started tho was just that somebody was too hot to finish 2 one day and what's a driver to do but mash the gas?

Gosh I loved it when the stockers came to town.:)

Dan Gurney and Parnelli Jones was what I was looking for. They each ran one race in the respective year and won it.
