QUESTION:
What famous country and western singer recorded under the pseudonym Luke the Drifter, as well as his real name?

A little info below:(from the new king of internet research!! Hell yeah!)

"King Hiram "Hank" Williams was born on September 17, 1923, in Mount Olive, Alabama. Early in his career, he developed the habit of singing preaching type songs under the name of "Luke the Drifter," a nom de plume for an idealized character who went across the country preaching the gospel, and doing good deeds while Hank Williams, the drunkard, cheated on women, and was cheated on by them in return.. Williams died in his cadillac in Oak Hill, West Virginia, at the age of 29, while on the way to a scheduled performance on New Years Day, 1953, in Canton, Ohio. That same year MGM released Luke The Drifter ( nrs. 30755 - 30758 )in a 78 RPM box set. The lyrics of these songs are a well-guarded secret among the great minimalist Country and Western troubadours. They are considered recitative morality fables incorporating a sort of "drawling blues" done on the spur of the moment."

You wise Azz, I shoulda known you'd be the spoiler. Correct  BUT YOU DIDN"T KNOW THE ANSWER 'TILL YOU CHEATED!

No kat....I am damn near an expert(lol) on country music. I have known this for years. :) I just found that info for folks that didn't know.

OK, but I don't really believe you.....like I STILL don't believe BOW ATE THE CAKE! ;)

He recorded a song call Pictures form lifes other side. Which I thought was a great song.

Anybody know what country singer was credited by the Beatles for their early musical style?

I do know that the Beates credited Elvis with a lot of their inspiration, but was Elvis really "country gone Pop"?

Nope wasn't Elvis...it was Roy Orbison.....I was so surprised when I read that!
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this....busy week-end!

Do you know the country group that knocked the Beatles out on the #1 spot on the charts and held it for a good many weeks. In England no less.

We gotta have a time frame here! For all I know it could have been Shania Twain. :D

oops sorry.........I don't know how I missed the country part.......well, back to the drawing board... :) :)

Man, Gollum, you're making it hard..............in the 60's there wasn't any group other than The Stones!! They sure weren't country and they were Brits too!!

Guess I'll have to wait for 97!! :D

A small hint. This same group in latter lears had their on show on TNN.

Country group....The Statler brothers is my guess. I always liked them better than the Oak Ridge boys...but both were good. :)

Right again 97. The Statler Brothers and their first mega hit Flowers On the Wall. Took the Beatles right out of the top slot for about 5 weeks. Now you know the rest of the story.

And that was about '64...am I right Gollum?

I have one. Tanya Tucker has a sister that also recorded a couple of moderate country hits: What was her name?

Also Tanya once was in a rocky relationship with another big name country star...who was he?

Just a W.A.G. on the first one..............Janie Fricke?

Don't know the Sister's name but I think the relationship was with Glen Campbell.
And DE in the 60,s the Oak Ridge boys were a Gospel Qt. And yep 97 it was about 64.

I liked Janie..she was cool. But nope. Try again guys. She had a couple of hits if memory serves...bot ONLY a couple.

You get the cigar Gollum. It was in fact Mr. Rhinstone Cowboy himself: Glen Campbell. He was rather tough on her from what I understand.

Y'all guys should know by now that I have never, ever won a game of Trivial Pursuit...............just so you know!! :D

Well...the sisters name is Lacosta Tucker. She had a couple of top ten hits---but net info on her is kinda scarce...besides I am no expert on gathering info off of here anyway! Apparently the girl is big into candy making as well!

Candy making might be a little more stable job!! Ain't heard of Tanya in years!! :D

Tanya started about age 12 or 13...really the Lee-ann Rimes of her day. But, yeah---she is pretty much retired these days, I guess. I was a big fan of her's back in the day.

(Although, I hear she was no good at poker..... ;) Anyone on here originally from Nashville? )
