Other than heavy, pea-soup fog from Alabama to Atlanta on Friday, it was uneventful from Texas to Atlanta.

Hooked up with Lizzycat at the hotel --- we both arrived within 15 minutes of each other. How's that for timing. LOL Dumped our stuff in the room and headed to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch. After lunch, out to the track for some pre-race shopping and looking around. This was Lizzycat's very first, live race, so she wanted to see everything.

Watched some of practice, then headed out to pick up an internet bud, and drop off food for the Saturday party. Went to dinner at the Buckhead Brewery in Peach Tree City. Great steak. Then back to the track for q'ing. Stopped back by friend's house for a meet-and-greet. Hit the hotel about midnight.

Saturday morning Lizzycat and I headed for Talladega. I figured she was so close she may as well see it. Toured the museum and took the quided tour around the track. Looking down at the banking from the top is quite breath-taking. It's like looking down the side of a building.

Dropped Lizzycat at the hotel --- I had run her ragged --- and she wanted to be in good shape for the race on Sunday. I hit the party about 3. Georgia beat Florida for the first time in a long time, so the party got quite rowdy. I made it back about 10-ish.

Sunday started with breakfast at 6:30AM. On the bus at 7:30. At the track, just after 9AM. In the stands for driver intros. The fly-over was thrilling.

It was HOT ! ! ! Since Lizzycat is from MA, she wasn't used to the heat and humidity, so she spent about 30 minutes in the First Aid station --- but she came back and finished the race.

Monday morning, we saddled up and headed for North Carolina. Hit the speedway just after 2PM. Went to the Sam Bass gallery where I scored an autographed Dale Jr. Daytona 500 print! ! ! Also hit Action Performance. Went to Hendrick to pay our respects. The flowers and tributes outside were heart-rending, but the business-like attitude of the employees let you know that they weren't quitting.

Checked into Mooresville motel and hit the steakhouse for dinner. Then we crashed.

Tuesday morning as we were heading out for RCR --- we saw Junior's hauler pulling out for Phoenix. Toured the RCR museum and the new shop. Hit the gift shop --- my credit card died. LOL

Back to Mooresville for lunch. DEI and RYR were next on the list. Yates has moved into the new place, and if you don't know where you're going, you'd never find it. Also went to Gibbs. Saw Bobby's hauler pulling out for Phoenix.

Wednesday morning, I dropped Lizzycat at the Charlotte airport and went hammer down for home. Got in late Thursday. Still getting caught up on laundry. LOL

Had a blast.

what a great time you had, so glad you shared and can't wait to see pictures.....

TRL, glad that you had a good time on your trip. When you went to RCR, did you happen to tour Richard's new winery? The wife got a nice brochure and we are planning to visit soon. Might even buy a couple of RCR wine glasses as well. I understand they go for a mere $5.00.

Sounds like you had an awesome time TRL !!!!

Thanks for sharing with us !!!! :)

Buck do you know if he has a web site? More importantly, is the wine any good???

It's a very "fast" wine, NW.

Aged with a stopwatch.

Actually, I haven't tried it yet but I plan to visit there some time next week.

That banking is real fun to ride down on an ice chest lid. :XXROFL: The road rash is not any fun though if you fall off.

Glad you had a good time.

Glad you and Lizzycat had a great time! We'll be waiting for some pictures. :D

The winery is right on the highway to RCR, not too far from the Welcome exit. We were on a tight schedule and didn't stop.

Lizzycat will have to give you pics. I didn't even take my camera. I've done the trip so many times, I just didn't feel the need.

Ah, here we go, the link is now working...
